I swear I had
something for this

Dad and I went in on getting a S&W 686 Performance Center earlier in the month that has a problem both of us want to fix.

Neither one of us like the extended cylinder release on the gun and we both want to go back to the normal one. The problem is when I try and Google this, all I can find are extended releases. Does anyone know where I can find one, or is this a case of calling Smith and Wesson and see if I can get a standard one.

Try calling S&W?

Someone deleted a post saying I should try Numrich. I did, but they were out of stock, but the correct term I need to look for was "Thumbpiece." Now I'm starting to find what I'm looking for.

Midwest Gun Works has them, says they're in stock:

I've bought from them in the past.

Sorry I'm late, but wanted to add another option: the Tromix cylinder release latch. I got it as it is just 'that' much larger than the factory one, and the extra metal hides the lock. HOWEVER, I had to do a bit of filing/stoning to make it fit/operate smoothly.

Worth it to me.

It's an idea, but I'm probably going to stick with the other one as my gun is all stainless. Thanks.
