I have a 1992 sig p228 with the original style trigger bar spring. Is it safe to use the new Hogue v2 style grips with the old style trigger bar spring?

I don't see "V2" on their website. That said, it should work, although anything aftermarket has the potential to create an issue.

They are the p228/229 fancy hardwood grips but they are engraved v2 on the back because they have the cutout for the new e2 style coiled trigger bar spring.

Hogue is really good about adapting all styles and arrangements of innards to their grips.

I would guess that you would be fine.

You can always contact member Ken@Houge if you really want an answer.

I'll try and see if I can find his contact info and point him in this direction.

Edit;

I just sent him an email. Ken is real good about responding but he could be off or tied up.

Grip panel that's cut for the coil-in-the-middle TBS will also be gtg for the original (uncoiled) TBS.

Grip panel that was designed for the original TBS will not work with the coiled TBS.

So, OP's case is gtg.

Thanks PaPa

Yes, Our current production grips do and will work with the Old and new style springs. They also work with the old and new strut housings. With that said, or Old rev grips will not fit the new style frames. Sorry, but I don't remember the year SIG changed these. We were making product for them at the time when they made the change without letting us know, so we scrambled to make the changed across the board to fit old and new

Information from our knowledge base;
" Do not use the stock star washers UNLESS the screws hit the magazine Fits 9mm, .40S&W, and .357 Sig.

If main spring retainer or trigger bar spring gets in the way, causing a gap they need to send back for the new style. Sig has recently (this was years ago) revised its pistols with a new style mainspring retainer, and a new style trigger bar spring. Our current grip has been revised to fit the new and old Sigs.

Hogue rubber grips marked with "rev. C" and wood manufactured after Sept. 2004 will fit on both standard pistols and DAK double action only pistols.

Hogue grips will fit 229 E2, remove E2 grips to expose the screw holes. Must purchase grips screws. Grip screws should be torqued to 13-15 inch lbs. Blue loctite is suggested on the threads. A quality correct fitting 3/32" hex / Allen or slot driver is a must!

229 SAS is a 229 DA/SA that has been customized at Sig. Sig model M11-A1 will fit the 228/229 DA/SA grips

Does not fit the New Sig P229 Carry model. The grip frame is different.

Does not fit the new Legion series pistol."
