I went a different route. I wanted a rifle caliber pistol with a larger magazine capacity. My two main criteria were that it be really light and I wanted it to fit in my backpack. I chose an EXTAR EXP. It weighs 48 oz. unloaded, about the same as a loaded 1911. It has a very efficient muzzle break and there is little or no recoil. It has a New Frontier Armory polymer lower. The 8.25" barrel produces a muzzle velocity of 2554 fps with Hornady Superformance 52 gr. ammo and 2544 fps with Winchester 55gr. FMJ target. It is light enough that you can hold it with a two handed grip like any normal handgun. The reliability has been 100% (it is slightly overgassed), even with steel cased Wolf. I've got several thousand rounds through it and I now have no qualms over the polymer lower. There have just been no issues. | |||
