Does anyone have VZ grips on their Ruger SP 101 ? Opinions if so.

I currently have Pachmyer rubber grps on my Ruger 327 SP 101. They are okay.

But I saw these VZ grips

And liked them. They look very grippable and a tad smaller than the rubber grips on the pistol now.

Anyone using them?

I tried a set on my SP101. I liked the feel of the grips, but on my particular gun, I couldn't get a solid fit. They have a pin that fits in the rear of the grip that is supposed to solidify the fit of the grips to the gun. The idea is to try the pin in the various holes until you find one that keeps the grip from moving. I tried all possible pin positions and couldn't get a "wiggle free" fit with any of them. On your gun they might work fine?

Is the texture of the grips rough ? Would they irritate skin if worn under a shirt?

VZ also offers the 320 version.

I had exactly the same problem. I contacted VZ. They said that Ruger's grip frames aren't consistent in dimensions (which I find hard to believe), and they suggested trying to shim them. I didn't want to go that route, so I returned them. They were pretty good about refunding, sending shipping label, etc., so you really wouldn't lose anything by trying them out.

Thank you.I missed that. The VZ's are expensive, hence me asking these questions. But as a poster mentioned, if they take returns as they did, it would be worth trying them.

From their website, there are 3 models of SP 101 grips.

I have smaller hands, seems most of the big name grips for the Ruger run on the larger side. And I have tried smooth wood grips, too slick.

I cannot speak to the SP101 specifically but I have several VZ grips on revolvers and I am happy with them. The company is also good to go in my experience so I doubt you would have issue with return or replacement.

I think you could “buy to try” so to speak with confidence.

I had the "Twister" version of the grips and they weren't rough at all. I don't think they would irritate your skin.
