I’ve got a lot of GLOCK’s and didn’t see the reason for a G45 but I bought one anyway. I’ll be darned if it’s not my favorite now. Balance is great. Shoots great. Much like a commander. It just feels good.

I guess this is where I’m at with the G45. I’ll probably assist him in acquiring one in MOS form and fear that I’ll want one as well.

"The G45 is a less ugly 19X."

This. We own a G17 and a G19X and like how the 19X feels. Like the lanyard, just in case we ever have a horse shot out from under us in a charge (unlikely, we think).

Can't tell much difference in how we shoot each, but we are not any great pistol shot. Kind of wish the G19X was not such an ugly color, but don't really care much. To us, the G45 looks more appealing but seems to be essentially the same as the G19X.

We trudge on.

Just refinish the slide and dye the frame. At least one member here did that and it came out great.

It’s because PDs wanted a full size grip with ammo capacity. But it’s a duty gun, and it doesn’t dig into your hip while pushing down on the seat with a duty holster. Making it more comfortable while sitting in a car all day. Seriously.....they asked officers what they wanted and this was one.

Best balanced pistol, not just Glock, I have ever picked up. I have 2, both with trijicon 3.25 RMR 's , one with G17 KKM barrel.
They are really fast, easy to shoot accurate pistols

I have a blue label MOS 45 on order. I re-upped my Glock armorer certificate in October, and the instructor said those are the ones that are flying out the door for agency sales. It also has a built in magwell which I appreciate as a nice touch.

What, me worry?

BobRI: Good suggestion, but we don't consider the color of the G19X enough of a "problem" to attempt any remedy. No one sees it but us, unless (Heaven forbid) it is drawn to save our tail feathers. At such a moment of terror, the less-than-desirable color will be of little concern...

We trudge on.

I bought a G19x, and may well add a G45. Why? Well, I need a full-length grip, that reaches all the way to the “heel bone” of my hand, or my arthritic right hand will swell and discolor, after a shooting session. Yes, indeed, a standard G19, as of late 2017, had become a torture device. My days of shooting service-cartridge pistols, with compact-length grip frames, are over. (I am age 59, so, not yet quite ready to hang up my guns, forever.)

The shorter barrel/slide of a G19x/G45 will clear a holster more readily, which is nice, as my gimpy shoulder ages, and range of motion is affected. A G19x or a G45 is an “orthopedic” pistol, for me. Of course, the shorter barrel/slide “clears leather” for a faster draw time, too, even for folks with youthfully-flexible shoulders.

There is nothing new about pistols with a full-length grip, and G19-ish-length barrel. 1911 shooters have known this concept as the Commander, for decades.

It is not that I ever found a G19 easier to conceal than a G17, at my usual 0300 carry position, anyway. With either size weapon, it was the outer corner of the slide that would first and most-prominently print, against the cover garment. The G19, the G17, and now the G19x and G45, are all equally-concealable, for my purposes.

Life is good. Smile

We are testing the Glock 45 against the Sig P320 Carry model. Both with RMR red dots. Not sure which one I like more at this point.

I bought a G19x for reasons other than color. As an LEO, my employer would not have allowed me to qual with a tan pistol, or carry it, on or off the the clock, but I bought mine about the time I retired, so color was a moot point, by then. I later acquired a black G45 slide, which had been milled for an Aimpoint ACRO P-1, and, with this slide on the G19x frame, I really do like the black-over-tan look. Smile

I own a 19x, a G45 MOS a P320 X-Carry and a Danish MOD P320 X-Carry clone. The Glocks are great guns, but I do prefer the Danish clone with the standard X-Carry in second. The SIGs feel much better in my hand, I greatly prefer the SIG trigger (sometimes, it almost seems to just shoot itself, lol, just kidding) and the SIG X-Ray sights are my favorite.

I didn't see a big difference between the Glock 45 and 17, but sold my 17 since the slightly shorter barrel was a "bit" handier and I just didn't have a need for both guns.

At my most recent Glock Armorer class he spoke of several advantages with the Model 45 .

The Gen 5 also feature ambidextrous slide release levers, The finish has been changed from Glock's Melonite coating to a new Diamond Like Coating or nDLC.

Also has a beveled magazine well. For faster easier magazine reloading.

Timely thread. I just picked up a G45 MOS yesterday. I've not shot it yet and compared it directly to the Xcarry, but it feels good.

I like my G43x with the shorter slide, so the 45 reminds of a slightly bigger version with similar balance/feel.
