Question on a P210 midnight Login/Join

They have one for sale on gunbroker now with a 6" barrel - but they seem to be right proud of it.

What makes a 210 midnight so special?

The Midnight SIGs (P210 5", P210 6" and P226 X5, P226 X6) are the only ones out of their entire Mastershop line-up with the high polished DLC finish. SIG DE's Head of Sales confirmed that they only made three of the P226 X5 and seven of the P226 X6 Midnight worldwide. As to the P210 Midnights, the production number is not known, but I've seen them more than their P226 counterparts, since they were first introduced in 2019. They are still very rare, though.

The one on GB right now, I'm sorry to say that the auctioneer is doing it a great disservice by not knowing what it is - not only incorrectly calling it a blue finish but never even mentioning the mirror polished surface; plus presenting subpar photos, imo. Roll Eyes

12131 is exactly correct. I have seen one of these in person and the pictures look terrible compared to what it looks like in real life.

Also what a shame it was imported by a company named Mad Dog and you have to have such a douche bag name scrawled across the side of it.

I guess at least it wasn’t imported by Two Testicles Tactical.

Mad Dog Guns not only have a douchebag name for their business, but they themselves act like that. Selling those guns but refused to respond to repeated simple inquiries. Roll Eyes

I’m not familiar with them. Guessing by the comments the importer needs to engrave their name - similar to how a Class 3 trust works?

Yes, importers have to mark their business names, including their city and state, on the guns to satisfy the ATF. Many can do it discretely and tastefully. But others can really ruin the guns, especially high value collectors ones. Mad Dog Guns is one. Legacy Sports International is another. To me, The Attic is the best in discretely marking their name on the guns. MMBI is also excellent.

Given that ad on Gunbroker, y’all seem to know the gun - even if you don’t think much of the posting… lol

Bryant Ridge seems to be a reputable auction house - do you reckon $6k is a good deal for this 6” Midnight?

I haven’t seen any others for sale. Seems like a lot, but there aren’t many like it to compare to.

I saw the price originally of $3,900.00 but import fees and whatever VAT is, will increase that. Just like any rare, unusual, antique, collectable, desired or limited quantity or, discontinued firearms, sellers can ask what they think the Market will bare. There are many P210s, both German and Swiss which bring way more money. That variant is for someone who wants one bad enough.

It’s just very interesting the ad states the gun has “the classic blue finish” the finish on these guns are a very far cry from classic blue. Also the pictures give the look of lots of streaks on the finish.
Is it worth $6k likely so or even more to the right buyer but the ad certainly does the gun no favors.
They are absolutely stunning in person.

Here are a few pics of the P210 5-inch and 6-inch Midnights I used to own. The hand polished DLC finish is simply amazing. What's it worth to you, only you can decide. They can be had for just a little over 4k when first released. But, I can tell you that you will never again be able to buy any of these guns at the prices before the Mastershop shut down.

And, the P226 X6 Midnight I wrote about it last year is in this >>>thread<<<.

Just a comment on the pricing. Its worth less to most collectors because it was made in Germany. The Swiss produced guns bring more. Just how it is.

Once, long ago I stumbled upon a P210-7 wasting away in a gun shop (Antique and Modern in Lexington). So I bought it. Brand new, as in looking like it hadn't been fired or dropped on the pavement. Later, like 10 or so years ago, I saw another. It did look like it had been beaten with a hammer. Lots of rounds through it, and they only wanted $5000. Better still, I have both 22 cal magazines and the original box.

Maybe I did only pay $1700 for mine, but I wouldn't sell it for the mere $5000. They did only made 400 back then. Low production SIGs can bring a fair premium for those of us who love them. I can't figure out why owners don't take better care of them. But I'm old and not in the market for a German SIG-Sour.

Jesus you can tell how good the polishing is when I can tell what kind of phone and case you have. Smile

I would have to handle those with a microfiber towel as to not want to get any finger prints on it. Smile

I saw that to cslinger. He has a link there to his X models too. I cant imagine having such beautiful and hard to come by pistols and, resale them. Did you keep your X models 12131?

Damn pistols are just stunning to look at.

way out of my price range but I would not even want to hold one..... what kind of special clothe do you use to wipe one down with before you put it back in the safe? I guess you have to wear clean cotton gloves when showing it off.

Still have the X6 at the moment, David. Yes, beautiful as they are, but they're ultimately just things, and things must go away at one time or another. Here are a few more pics of the X6, with Old Glory reflecting off it from outside the window.

That is a beauty 12131. It looks lonely without a pic of your Facettes... Big Grin.

Ask and ye shall receive. I'm going to revisit the Facettes later with its own separate thread, because of its very interesting, but short, production history. But for now, these pics will do. Smile
