Refinishing options for a DW Valor
Recently purchased a DW Valor from guns.com. Gun was advertised in “Excellent” condition. My FFL and I maintain it was NOT in Excellent condition, but vendor disagrees. Since my options are to eat shipping both ways and pay a restocking fee or keep it, I like to refinish it. I am curious what my options are. Its kind of a matte stainless, which means the scratches are bright and shiny. Thanks!

You could have it media blasted and make it all matte stainless again

Mahovsky Hard Chrome. It is a great option if you want to keep it silver.

CCR nickel boron

For ME:
DA/SA=Sig 9mm or HK P30 LEM 9
Striker fired= Glock 9mm
If it's a .45= 1911
Suppressed= HK in .45
I like anything in 10mm

While plating, DLC, or nitride over stainless is what the Cool Guys call "hard use" finish, it will really run the cost up.
I don't know how much a real gunsmith would charge to bead blast it or what a body shop might do for you.

I have seen some very credible work done with the right Scotchbrite, gray, I think. Very low expense but you might ought to practice on an old cookpot.

Awesome. I bought a used 226 X5 with some holster marks on the front of the frame. I'm going to do this

I would mask the rails. I sent a fitted 1911ish slide and frame to be blued, the blaster roughed up the rails to where the gun would not cycle. I had to ask FLG to lap the rails again. Didn't loosen it up enough to notice, but could have been avoided altogether.
