I had to go back to a Beretta 92.......
If it wasn't for the SIG P226, the Beretta 92FS would still be my favorite pistol.

Having shot a beretta on an Army shooting team ( at all the matches we participated in the requirement was for a rack issue gun no modifications) and having depended on one in two deployments I can say they are about as good as any 9 out there. Those that complained usually from two sources:
Unskilled shooters who had peripheral hits on target- sorry dudes any inadequately placed shots regardless of platform or caliber are not going to have the desired effect
Shooters who stuffed the gun in a holster and ignored caring for it for weeks at a time in the harshest environment or got the crappy early contract rough check mate mags. Both were culprits for malfunctions.
With modest attention and proper mags they run forever. And are one of the most accurate combat 9’smout there.
At one point I had the chance to ransom rest a rack of issued m9’s with standard ball ammo and the worst of the lot still shot sub three inch 25 yard groups

Lord I had to go WAY out of state to find my Gallatin marked Wilson 92G.

I did find one in mid-TN several months ago but was not good quality. Haven't seen one since, good or bad. But that one soured me on buying one online that I cant see before ordering

I know I'll catch some flak for this but I hope it'll be a 92 Centurion built on an M9A1 frame.

That would actually be very nice.

I know the 90-two is the redheaded-stepchild of the 92 family, but ive always loved it. With the comp, it shoots like a kitten, too.

Me too. I lub me a good hunk o shit like the 92. I recently upgraded mine with wilson slims, beretta g conversion decocker, and a D hammer spring. The guns is a different animal, and I LIKE it, a LOT. Not having a military background, I don't share the same bad experience with worn out guns in combat. I think I'd hate to be in combat with a gun that wasn't 100%. Shame on the decision makers in the DoD in that regard. When I was reporting to work on various military bases over the last two decades, I did see some sorry ass M9's attached to military police. I remember hoping they shot better than they looked. Apparently not.

With prices dropping so low now I may buckle to the urge to add a 92 to my collection. Never heard anyone claim they're a piece of shit til I read this thread.

I saw some beat to hell M9's when I was in the Marines. Unfortunately the maintenance cycles vary from unit to unit and the armorers were more keen on failing the guns for "carbon" than maintaining the weapons with recoil springs and pushing proper lubrication.

I'm hoping that culture changes, I'll never forget taking a cleaning rod and placing it on the crown of my M16 through the flash hider to scrape carbon other wise my weapon would not pass the armorer inspection. The cult like obsession with over cleaning weapons especially in the USMC is plain stupid.
