Shield has, apparently just today, placed their newest generation Shield 15 round mags on their website for sale. These are for the Glock 43X and Glock 48. I ordered two and wanted to let any of you who are interested know about this newest generation. Do I need to say I have no affiliation with Shield and get nothing if you buy or don't buy and have no idea if this newest generation is any good or not? OK, it's said. Bob

I'd give the palmetto state armory mags a try. Its kinda irritating shield arms keeps coming out with new generations of mags.

Even though these mags are now forbidden fruit here in WA, I'm still interested in what developments Shield has done with the Gen3 units. My precious few Gen2 pair have run flawlessly so far in both of my 43Xs with all sorts of different ammo loads. Shame I can't legally buy more of their mags but it is what it is, at least for the time being. After reading what the Gen3 revisions are it seems none of changes appear to be earth-shattering or a condemnation of their previous generation design. However one of the changes is their switching fabricators which by default means very necessary trial and testing with one's 43X/48 to make certain of their reliability and durability. But they also have thickened the gauge of the steel used for the magazine and improved the finish for better corrosion resistance, both welcome changes as I see it. They've added spacing ribs on the mag body, and the reason for the revision actually makes sense. Although in hindsight it IS surprising and somewhat disappointing that they didn't adequately take into account the obvious thickness differences between the wall of standard Glock mag body vs a stamped/rolled sheet metal alternative. But at least they've acknowledged that there can be resultant stacking tolerance issues with Gen2 and earlier mags and have chosen to continue to develop and improve their product instead of ignoring this potential problem for some Glock owners. -MG

If I remember correctly the only big change to their Gen 3 mags is the company they have manufacturing them.
