There is a railed, carbon steel slide P226 for sale locally, product code is apparently E26R-BSS-GER. My questions: 1. I was under the impression that railed german P226 were designated AL SO, what would be the difference between that one and this pistol? 2. Any idea on value, or at least a range depending on condition and accesories? Basically to see if the seller is out of their mind more than anything. Many thanks in advance!

P226 AL SO is SIG DE's designation. This appears on the German factory label. When SIG NH imported the gun, they have their own designation, and the Part Number is E26R-BSS-GER, and this is on their own label that they put over the German label. Either designation will not tell you whether the gun has the old carbon steel slide or the newer stainless milled slide. You just have to know what you're looking at. When SIG NH imported these carbon steel slide railed P226s back in 2011, they also imported the stainless milled slide P226 counterpart, and it was designated E26R-9-B-GER. These guns have contrast sights and wear the E2 grip, whereas the carbon steel guns have SIGLITE sights and wear the regular 2-panel plastic grips. Q

Q, As always thanks for the information. I have seen photo of the one in question and it has the regular plastic grips and ad references night sights so looks like it could be the carbon steel version. Any guesses on a value, or even a range depending on condition. I can think of one AL SO on the classifieds within the last year so it is hard to find comparisons.
