Picked up a two-tone W. German P226 and have some Questions.
Hi all, I am new to the forum but not to Sigs and just picked up a dream gun (2 tone W. German P226) but have some questions on it.

It is a KE (94') two tone W. German slide gun that has no importer markings anywhere on it (no Exeter, Herndon, Tyson, etc.). Frame has proof marking and matches barrel/slide so it is a full German gun. What instance would cause for no import marking?

Also, how do I determine if the slide is factory finish in silver? It does not appear Nickel but more stainless. And were the KE frames K-Koted? It appears darker black than blued. Thanks!

Pics would really be helpful to answer some of your questions.

Is the breech block in the slide also silver colored? Can't tell from the pics.

Also there is no photo post function in house. You have to use an off site provider like Postimage or the like.

The Breech Block is not silver colored. It is black colored which appears correct. I thought similarly about color but then looked at this NIB example in link below and they look very similar.

Personally I did not pay a ton for it for it so I am not super mad if it is not factory original- I hear sometimes you can confirm via factory if it was a two tone from factory per serial #...this true? Thanks in advance.

I'd be mad if someone ruined a factory-original W. German P226 by doing this.

So barring any original box or paperwork that shows it was two tone from factory how would I confirm? Also, any insights on lack of import marking?

That is usually due to its being a gun that was brought back directly to the US without going through a distributor. I have an early HK P7 PSP I purchased at a military Rod and Gun club in Germany that bears no import marks.

Looks Ni to me. Factory or aftermarket? That's another question.

Unless you get a SIG C/S rep to look into 'the old system' or find a factory box with matching SN, you'll never know 'for sure'.

But since it will never have collectors value without being in pristine shape and having a box, just shoot it and enjoy.

It could be factory or it could be aftermarket. SIG 2-tones seemed to have some variations, with some years having nickel controls & slide and other years having slide only.

Thanks for all the input. I like unique Sig guns but by no means think this is a unicorn nor would I treat it like one- although the 94' date on a W. German gun with no import mark caught my eye. I am trying to find a date-correct box, manual, and mags to "restore" it if you will.
