I am in the market for a new 10mm. What has been the forum's experience with the Xten?

I've only had mine out to the range twice, but initial impressions are quite positive. The gun shoots well, and recoil seems much more controlled than it was with the two 1911-pattern 10mms I used to have (Colt Delta Elite and AMT Javelina). I'm looking forward to working with it more. S&W lowering the price on their 10mm may hurt the X-Ten in the marketplace, but I'm happy with mine. Cheers, Whisper

I am enjoying mine. I shoot better with it than with my 9mm 320. My only gripe is that ammo is expensive. This message has been edited. Last edited by: k5blazer,

Deeply satisfying to shoot 40 cal bullets at 9mm NATO speeds. It's great for rebaselining your sense of what higher recoil is. Shoot XTen, then switch back to 9mm P226 and it's like shooting a .22 Ammo is coming down, though it will always be more expensive. ...that I will support and defend...

I’m trying to figure out what I can do with my existing P320 gear. I have 9mm, .357 & .40 cal with lg, med and small frames from 2016 or 17. I would like to add the .45 & 10mm but not sure How best to go about it. If I buy both whole guns will my existing frames also fit them, or will they trade out with each other if I get one in lg and 1 med frame. Sorry if I’m being obtuse but I found navigating Sig’s site frustrating. Seems like it was easier a few yrs ago. I read a few 320 posts here and couldn’t glean the answer. Thanks

probably a good thing I don't have a cut |
The 10mm and .45acp grip modules are deeper front to back to fit their magazines compared to the 9mm/.40/.357 grip modules. The magazines are deeper because the 10mm and .45acp cartridges are taller then the 9mm/.40/.357 cartridges. The FCU's for the 10mm and .45acp pistols are interchangeable with each other but not with the 9mm/.40/.357 FCU due to a few different parts, the takedown safety lever and the slide catch. The slide catch probably doesn't matter but the takedown safety lever is different to allow clearance for the bigger magazines of the 10mm and .45 pistols. Currently Sig only sells the 10mm with a Full size medium X style frame. The .45 is only available in compact size on their website at this time. If you wanted to be able to swap slide assemblies on the 10mm to make it a .45 full size, Sig sells the full size .45 slide, barrel, recoil spring assembly and magazines all separately to make your own conversion kit.
