| All gens of G19 share the same locking block fit and barrel compatibility. Some manufacturers make separate Gen5 barrels where the length of the threading is slightly different to accommodate things one attaches to the barrel (e.g., suppressors, comps, etc). |

| My purpose is for a suppressor. How much does the length of threading really matter, or should the shadow systems barrel work? For that matter, would an oem glock gen4 barrel work in the gen5 slide then?

It most likely will work; however, keep in mind that that slide, barrel, & suppressor are all made by different manufacturers, so occasionally problems creep up, such as more space between the suppressor and slide than you'd like. quote: For that matter, would an oem glock gen4 barrel work in the gen5 slide then?
If they're both G19s, then yes, they're interchangeable between all generations of G19. FYI, Gen5 standardized the locking blocks for G17, 17L, 19, 26, & 34 to fit the G19, so you can do things like put a G17L.5 barrel in a G26.5 or put G34.5 barrel in a G19.3. |
