I quite understand how that may happen, it wouldn't be the first time but that is egregious!
Meanwhile I was trying to date a P245 I ran across, and it seems SN# C 010480 would be 1999. Now if I can only scrape-up the money.

Just got my first Sig. last week. P229 AB215XX Triple serial no. .40 cal. Two tone with silver color trigger and controls. Frame says Made in Germany.No rail. Excellent condition, gunshow find. Came with Hogue wraparound grips only I know nothing else about it.

P228 - Kanton Polizei -PW import - B 332 XXX I know it was made in 05', unsure of month.
P226R DAK - UU655XXX - Exeter/Jun 2010
P229R DAK - AM 10 XXX - Presumably between 2003 and 2004, the LEO only marked magazines are 03, and the night sights are 04. It'sa german frame/barrel/ US slide. No MIM parts as far as i can tell.
I just purchased this Sig P226 40cal and was trying to find the manufacture date? I called Sig Sauer, but their records don't go back far enough for my serial number. The Frame is German and the slide doesn't have any of the markings so I am assuming that it is US assembled. The serial number is U 5821XX
Any help would be much appreciated.
