SigobsessedI found an older p 220 ser no 158085 on frame and slide it is 2 tone and chambered in 9 mm. Under the sig sauer name on the slide it had two words can't recall the first one but the second was Suisse so I think it was made in Switzerland but on the bottom of the frame in front of the trigger guard was some other words I couldn't make out because they were poorly engraved but my guess is they were several groups of letters then I think made in Germany. I apologize for the vagueness of this info I am going from memory because I didn't have my phone to take pictures any info would be appreciated. There were no proof marks or date codes on the bottom of the slide.thanks sigobsessed

Mitch_Rapp.45P220 W Germany KC date code (1992) triple S/N G 194908. It also has the best fit after market wood grips I have ever seen or perhaps they are factory? Can someone shed some light? I picked it up today.

Vegas.45My P220 has a KF code and the serial number also confirms it's 1995 manufacture date, but why does it say Made in W. Germany? The re-unification took place in 1990, I would think by the time they made my pistol it would have said just "Germany". Not a big deal but I thought some of you guys might know why.
Love the gun of course.

UriahJust using up old stock parts.
Some P220's from late 1995 and into 1996 have the same Made in W. Germany, but the W. is peened over with the SIG waffen logo.

agile_2Newby questions about newer P220.
Serial # on frame is clear but how do I get the date of manufacture from it? Code seems different than what is on the top of this thread.
No other markings anywhere that I can see except .45 auto and SIG Sauer on the barrel.
Is this a "call/email the factory" situation to get the date code?

UriahThe serial numbers are largely sequential.
Contingent on your specific serial number, you should be able to place it in numerical order using the list, and get a general idea of the month and/or year.
Feel free to post the first 3 numbers if you'd like assistance.

Looking at the list and scratching my head. It was almost certainly manufactured 2011. Wanted to check the month.
First three are 37A xxxxxx. It's a new Exeter P220.
Thanks Uriah.

Well that explains a little bit for sure.
Must be a pistol that was manufactured here in the States, certainly in part, if not entirely. What specific model is it?
The newer American made pistols are getting different serial number pre-fixes. That's the first I've heard of one with what you've got.
Unfortunately, I don't have any data compiled for the latest pistols, and really don't plan to. Most of the stuff nowadays comes with some sort of date indication on the boxes, etc.
You can be sure it's 2011 or later, but for anything more specific than that, you'll have to contact SIG, or look into anything that came with the pistol, such as the stickers on the case, if you have such.

Yep. US made P220R nitron finish. Dug out the case and it has a sticker with a date of May 11 2011.
Thanks a heap Uriah.
