I’ve recently picked up a couple older Sigs, a P225 and P226. The 225 is KF dated (1995) and the P226 looks like it’s a K-Kote JH (1987). The 226 looks like an import or proof mark was peened out since the rest of the finish is in pretty great shape for a 33 year old gun. Anyone know what the mark is (was)?

The P226 is unmistakably K-Koted. The Ulm definitive nitro proof mark just has some peeling around it.

That JH (87) P226 definitely looks like it's a K-Kote Pistol. Regarding the 'peened out' proof mark, if you're referring to the mark on the right side of the frame adjacent to the S/N, that's the Definitive Nitro Proof mark. It's not uncommon in older Sigs for the Anodizing to appear chipped/damaged in that area. I do not know the explanation, but I've seen many that appear the same as yours does, so nothing to be concerned about.

Nice pickup. You may be able to use a bit of touch up paint or have it refinished.

The proof marks are standardized by each country.

This is a JF ('85) P220 I used to own. Similar peeling around that proof mark.
