P365 slide serrations Login/Join

I find it a little difficult to rack the slide on my P365 (increasing age, decreasing muscle strength, and increasing arthritis). I bought an aftermarket P320 slide with very pronounced slide serrations and it has made a great difference in my ability to manipulate the slide. So my question (s) are: Does anyone have experience with having their P365 milled to improve the serrations (grippyness)? and also does anyone know of an after market slide that would meet my needs? Thanks in advance.

While it can be done, I doubt it will help much.

If it truly is that difficult, I'd suggest looking at the line of Shield EZ handguns.

You lose a few rounds capacity. It's somewhat bigger. But when I sampled one at a recent event I was truly amazed at the ease of racking the slide.

If circumstances permit using it, this device makes a huge difference to me:

I would try the Arachnigrip tape Wasabi suggested. If that is insufficient, I'd consider an HK VP9SK or VP9. Although the VP9SK is considerably larger than the P365, the charging ears/wings on the back of the slide make racking a breeze.

If the VP9 is still too difficult, then consider one of the M&P Shield EZ models or a revolver.

One more option is to buy an optic ready P365 model or the optice ready slide by itself. If you have something like a P365X w/ a RDS, the RDS doubles as something to push your hand against for increased leverage in racking the slide. Rear iron sights w/ ledges are all the rage now. A RDS is effectively a huge ledge.

Suppressor height sights (Sig x-ray) will also give you something to press against.

Costs more but if you want to get a red dot, you can buy an X slide from Sig or even trade for one for your slide and add red dot of choice.

My buddy bought his wife a 365X with a Romeo Zero. She is strong but as is common her hand strength makes manipulating the slide harder. I suggested racking the slide using web of hand against the optic. Doing it this way makes it easy to do and you keep your greasy fingers away from the glass.

True Precision has an option. The RMSc makes it pretty easy to manipulate the slide:

You can also consider the new P365 in .380 which is supposed to be easier to rack. If you can abide a step down in power.

If you're not aware of it, try using the push-pull technique to rack the slide. During my teaching years, our group ran about 2,000 students through our BP and SD courses. Inevitably, there were shooters with the same issue. Most were women, but some men also. It's all in the technique.

1) Push forward on grip using strong hand.
2) Pull the slide rearward using weak hand.
3) Keep the strong side elbow pinned against the body for better stability.
4) Do BOTH st the same time. You are splitting the effort between two hands, resulting in approximately a 50% reduction in each individual hand.
5) As you perform the movement, don't do it too fast or too slowly. Expeditiously is the best I can describe it. Play with various speeds and angles to see what works best for you. Try both slingshot and overhand manipulation.

All I can say is even small framed ladies five feet tall had no problems with 1911's and other large caliber pistols using this efficient technique.

BTW, I'm 80 and have arthritis in both hands. I have no issues with the following pistols: 1911 Cmdr, P226 .40, P229 .40, P320 9mm & .40, Glock nines. Good luck.
