FrozenIcemanNew Information on p series 22 LR conversion kits from Sig Custom Shop
As some of you may know I started doing some serious deep diving into the 22 lr conversion kits for my p226. After looking through some different sets of images around the internet I was seeing differences between the kits (namely the ink stamp on the right side of the slide). This is a response I got from SIG on identifying 22 lr kit parts from some images I sent them.
"The slides on the 226/229r/220 are the same. The barrel lug itself should have numbers on it. Could be 29/26/20 which would indicate that barrel it is.
The magazines are also different, 229’s are a little shorter then the 226’s and the 220s are a little “deeper” as the 45s are longer front to back."
-From Michael Chandler Sig Sauer
So one can convert their 22 LR kit to be used on the 229 and 220 with a barrel change and a magazine.

Excam_ManThen why is there different kits for railed and non railed pistols?
I don't think it is as simple as the reply.

tekmassaI know from first hand experience that the slides between the 228/229 and 229 railed kits are different.

FrozenIcemanInteresting, what is different about them?

Excam_ManThe 220/226 kit was supposed to be the same other than mags.
Can anyone verify?

The dust cover dimensions, the one for the classic P228/P229 slide is longer.

OsageCountyGunsI believe there is some minor variation in the barrel for the P220 and P226. I can't remember what that difference is though. I pulled some photos of the .22 barrels and the threaded barrels were marked P220 and P226.

OsageCountyGunsSomething else worth noting.... Sig still made the P226 pistol in .22 LR about 3 years after the CONV was discontinued. If you can't find a kit, you could probably find the complete pistol more easily and just buy it for the slide / mags and then dump the frame.

This.
A friend of mine with a P229 got the kit for the P229R, there was a 3/8" gap in front of the dust cover to the back bottom of the slide. It shot fine but looked, let's just say, odd.

TN MarkGreat information. Finding a 2289-22 kit for a non railed P229 has proven challenging.
