What can I say? I've long been intrigued by the caliber. Does any current manufacturer offer this caliber. I know that a Chinese knockoff of the 226 is made for the Tok, but it's not available in the states. How difficult would it be to convert a current Glock or Sig for the 7.65 caliber? What mags would I use? Thanks in advance for any assistance. ************************************************ "Tonight, we are a country awakened to danger and called to defend freedom. 7.62x25 Tokarev? You can get Zastava made Tokarevs for under $400, and Romanian made Tokarevs for under $350. A LGS near me always seems to have new ones, and ammo for them, too. _____________ "I enter a swamp as a sacred place—a sanctum sanctorum. There's also the CZ 52, but the Tokarev may ultimately be a bit more durable as a shooter. Parts are certainly easier to obtain. There's a move on over on another website to "nudge" Atlantic Firearms into "nudging" Zastava to produce a CZ999 that's chambered for that cartridge; it can't hurt to sent Atlantic or Zastava an email encouraging them to make that happen.

I have a CZ999 and it is excellent. If Zastava could see there way in making one DA/SA in 7.62x25 that would sell I'm sure. As many people as have been trying to convert other pistols to the Tok round I don,t think there would be a problem with sales in the US. After all, eliminating the headaches involved with conversion by the common man would be another selling point.

Fighting the good fight |
The thing is, the people clamoring for 7.62 Tokarev conversions are a teeny-tiny fraction of the overall gun buyers/owners, and ones who likely already have deep stockpiles of that caliber from back when surplus ammo was widely available and cheap. That's no longer the case, so expanding interest outside that small niche without the widely available cheap ammo is pretty unlikely. It's a tough sell to get major gun manufacturers to consider offering something new in a niche caliber with minimal ammo availability. Dozens - or even hundreds - of people interested isn't enough to justify it. So 7.62 Tokarev in a modern handgun format will likely remain in "hobbyist custom conversion" or "small shop who sees a chance to make a few bucks through ultra-specialization" territory.

I have 2 Yugo Zastava M57's frame mounted safety versions. The newer slide mounted safety Zastava M57A sell very well. But sadly you are correct, American shooters are not going en masse to support the Tokarev. It's a great cartridge, and with modern non corrosive HP loadings is actually a serious self defense - varmint round. I sure like mine. Perhaps something like this would tip the balance, a modern 7.62 x 25 carbine, developed alongside a polymer pistol, either full size or compact. But whoever did that would be going on a limb. To answer the OP's question, conversions like you are seeking aren't there. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Sunset_Va, 美しい犬

7.62x25 is a great round, the New Zavasta M57A a very slim handgun that I can actually wear IWB. U.S. Army 11F4P Vietnam 69-70 NRA Life Member

The Zastavas are decent pistols, as are the other Tokarevs. Too bad the Colt 1911 isn't made in 7.62x25.
