I will probably get hate for this, and I own a bunch of Olight stuff, but if it’s gonna be a true weapon or in case shit light I prefer Streamlight/Surefire/ElZetta when at all possible.

The Olights seem to be fantastic general purpose lights. I love em for that.

Also I don’t want rechargeables in my weapon/in case shit lights. I want primary cells.

Again just one idiot on the webs opinion.

Two words: Solar and charger. There's a window of SHTF where just replacing the batteries works, until you run out of batteries. But you could use the solar charger at this point also.

Before that point, primarily before before the SHTF, rechargeables are better. After it gets to the point where you run out of batteries, rechargeable + solar charger is better.

If we're talking about the same light - the o-light PL2 Mini Valkyrie - then yes, I have one. I occasionally put it on my PX4 Compact as a nightstand gun/light combo.

The nice thing about the PL2 Mini is that it can be adjusted front to back after securing it to the accessory rail to better fit a wider range of pistols. It has an easy to use and quick to remove locking latch instead of a thumbscrew.

The light has a built in, non-removable, rechargeable lithium battery (which might be the major weakness of the light) that can be recharged magnetically even while the light is attached to the gun.

I wouldn't hesitate to use it as a home defense/nightstand light where I can keep it charged up when not in use. I don't go around kicking in shitheads' doors for a living, so I'm not sure how well it would hold up to long term use/abuse in that kind of a setting.

I have a Olight mini2 on my backup. I ran a original mini before that. I've had no problems with either and recommend them. I havent run a TLR 7 but I run a 1 on my duty gun and its just fine. I trust both companies to make a good product.

Ummmm I was talking about a nice simple bump in the night, maybe a little home invasion something quaint like that. I wasn’t talking about chaps wearing pantless Mohawk having maurauders killing for the last drop of gas on earth Smile

Frankly if we are at a stage where batteries are done for me then we have bigger problems affoot and I will just duct tape a torch to the end of ye old AR15 and tighten my spiked dog collar and head out to the wastes in search of bourbon and toilet paper. Smile

..... but yeah a solar charger could come in handy there. Smile.

TLR-7A. Has the switches that should have been on the TLR-7 all along.

Okay, yeah, I went too far.

Let's go the other direction. At night you can leave it on the charger. If something goes bump in the night, grab and go, fully charged. In the morning, take it off the charger, and it goes in the holster, fully charged, which should get you through the day.

I don’t have any firsts hand experience with the O-light. I have a TLR7a and love it. I have several other Streamlight flashlights and weapon lights, and they are all good to go.

white crisp light
able to recharge
easy to switch to different firearms
sleek design
$89.99 vs $114.99

cons
lock down lever protrudes on side
