Looking at a last minute find - Sig 1911 Tacops with the squared “sig-ish” slide. What’s the experience out there as far as reliability, longevity, handling? Also how do you find holsters with such an unusual shaped slide?

Thanks all

Have a Nightmare Carry. Been totally reliable now for probably 1500 rounds or so. Accurate, too. Trigger is good even though it uses a non-traditional drop safety system. Most holsters I have are well broken in from use with my other 1911s and the Sig is just a bit more snug in them but fit and retention is fine. Pretty easy to find Sig specific holsters too.

I have a 1911XO with about 10K thru it and a stainless rail with about 1500 through it. NO problems at all. The series 80 stuff doesn't bother me at all and have had not one problem.

As far as holsters go I have a leather OWB holster for a regular 1911 for the XO. It does fit VERY snugly. There are makers out there that make holsters specifically for the Sig 1911.

I have a couple of the TacOps in a variety of calibers (10mm, 45cal, 9mm) and all of them have been nothing but tack drivers from day one. If you're getting a leather holster they'll fit in a standard 1911 holster; however, if you are getting a holster with a molded shell or a kydex holster, you're going to need to find one that is specific to the Sig 1911. There are a number of companies that make them.

Can someone send me some suggestions on kydex holster makers that make them for the Sig 1911 with rail? I’ve found a couple but not sure if they are any good…

I've got a .357 Tacops that I've also added a Nowlin .40 barrel to. 100% reliable with factory loads. The Nowlin barrel is pretty tight and it doesn't like some of my RNL .40 handloads, but otherwise it's flawless with any factory ammo in both calibers.

I've got a Stealthgear IWB holster for it and a kydex OWB whose manufacturer I've forgotten.
