Ultra 1911 45 Magazine Compatibility
Does anyone know what aftermarket magazines are compatible with the Ultra 1911 45? Thanks.

If they are calling it a 1911 it darn well better take any name brand 1911 magazine from Wilson, CMC, Tripp, Checkmate, Metalform, Mecgar, etc. I wouldn't count on Promag.

Thanks, Jim. The Sig Ultra is a compact 1911 and will accept most if not all of the name brands you mentioned but they all come in certain sizes: full size, compact, Officer, and Sig's Ultra Compact.

I decided to just go ahead and buy 3 magazines from Sig to avoid any misfits. Appreciate your response.

Ah, OK, you didn't say "compact" to start with. There are a lot of guns out there called "1911" that are not.

And there are a lot of "Ultra" model 1911s too...

Sig Ultra Compact
Rock Island Tac Ultra
Rock Island Rock Ultra
Rock Island Pro Ultra Match
Kimber Ultra Carry
Kimber Ultra TLE
BUL 1911 Ultra
Springfield Ultra Compact
Etc.

Now that we have more info, the Sig Ultra Compact 1911 specifically will be compatible with any "officer" sized single stack 7 round .45 1911 magazine from any reputable manufacturer (as listed above) if you want a flush fit, or with any larger single stack 8+ round .45 1911 magazine if you don't mind it protruding from the bottom of the grip, though that necessitates not being overly zealous with insertions - unless it has a baseplate spacer to prevent overinsertion.

That's what I was curious about. I wanted the flush fit with no bump pad to reduce printing.

Regarding the Sig Ultra, does anyone know if the grip can be bob-tailed using the Brownell's jig?

I don't see how.
The original Brown Bobtail jig and MSH rounded off a GM butt leaving only enough space for an "officer" mainspring.
