Magazines for G22 Login/Join
Too old to run,

I have been looking for a couple new magazines for my G22 (40 cal) and all I can find online are all 10 round capacity.

Is there some reason for that? I.e. some law of which I am not aware?

Appreciate any info, and apologize if I am not in the right forum.

It’s probably just because of the nationwide shortage of guns, magazines and ammo. People are panicking and buying everything they are afraid might soon be illegal.

Supposedly they are in stock here.

They've been in short supply. Finally found a batch at one of our distributors a month ago; I should've ignored the reality that we haven't had much 40S&W ammo in months and ordered more of the mags since we're out again, and so is that distributor. 30 of those 15rd mags came and went just like that, but the 22rd 40S&W mags (which we already had a good supply of) conversely aren't moving very well unlike the 33rd 9mm mags are. Strange.

I bought ten of those recently. Three were very old magazines that would not drop free. Several had worn-out, grooved followers. All were heavily used police trade-ins.

Well that sucks, you'd think they would only sell functional magazines

I’m sure they’ll probably function, but some are on their last legs. I’m also very sure that they don’t function test any of the magazines. Order ten, they pull ten from the pile, and ship. Used police trade-ins. What you get, is what you get.

I bought new followers for some, because they were so worn down as to have deep cartridge-shaped grooves.

Consider that for reliability, you’ll want to do a thorough inspection and function test on each, and you will probably want to look closely at replacing followers and springs.

I can’t imagine it wise to purchase used police trade-in mags, and not replace the springs.

Honestly, I'd trust these guys for new mags over used:

Bought tons of stuff from Glockmeister, they're GTG. Standard capacity, in stock, $25 each.

His price currently is a little cheaper for these magazines than our friend Greg Cote. I just placed an order.

I have ordered surplus parts from RTG in the past, but never magazines. Thank you for the information.
