Back in the late 90’s my everyday CCW was my Sig P230. Many of my LE friends had the Walther until they held my Sig. The gun simply feels awesome in my hand. It’s not the most fun gun to shoot but it’s accurate and has never failed. It’s also light and carries easily. I’m looking to carry again and need advice on an inside the waste holster for it. Not a fan of leather so I prefer something other than that. Thoughts?

The P230 might be difficult, as it’s an older pistol. I’m a fan of Comp-Tac MTAC hybrid (leather backing with kydex shell). Crossbreed are similar, try them.

Ultimately, my recommendation is to review your carry choice. These days, the P230 is outclassed on every level. For example, the P365 is smaller, lighter, in a full duty caliber, 10+ capacity, and better recoil characteristics. Not to mention better ergos for handling (mag release in particular).

The P230 is a sexy pistol. But IMO it’s not a serious carry option these days.

Look at Ebay for Walther PPK holsters. Many holsters that fit the PPK will fit the 230. I wanted a holster for a PPK last fall and found quite a few on Ebay, including from custom makers.

My suggestion is to reconsider leather...

Ruger LC9 or Sig p290 comparable ones will work as long as you stay away from plastic molded ...

I actually carry may P239 in leather with an Inside the waste band holster but usually outside the waste band and inside the belt...

For me the only thing 'outdated' on a P230 is the .380 rounds... otherwise I'd carry one everyday. And you are absolutely right about the comparison with the Walther PPK...

maybe just me but there isn't a semi-auto pistol that looks better or feels better in my hand than a P230:

I should have thought of eBay. Great suggestion. I think others are right and I’m going to have to go the leather route regardless.

Buddy, I truly love this gun. I have yet to find anything better to carry. I hope I never need it but if I do and it goes beyond 2 rounds I should probably drop it and run away

Vaftocr,

Stick with it. don't pay any attention to the plastic/poly fanatics or the folks that think a pistol is inadequate if it doesn't hold 21 rounds.

the one I pictured above is my only Safe Queen.. even though it is used I've never fired it, I think. I 'won' it on a benefit auction for this forum and it went to CCR for refinishing before getting to me. I take it out about once a month and 'fondle' it...

Here is the one I carried for years.... it has a Crimson Trace Laser grip....

Ebay. Vintage Safariland leather holster to name one and it won't break the bank. Sig P-230 fine weapon and far from obsolete.
