I know they did make the all Ni P229 in .40, but, not sure about the 9mm, though. I don't think they ever did, or, if they did, I've never seen one.

I don't recall Sig ever releasing a Ni P229/9mm either. I also had the all Ni P229/40S&W.

That's what I thought. Reason I asked is I have a pre-ban factory Ni SIG SAUER P229 9mm mag so marked, that I've had for several years (bought from a member here). And, it just dawned on me today that SIG apparently never made a Nickel P229 in 9mm. Confused

I think they did, pretty sure I've seen a few over the years.

Preban P229 was a small window. Did they make an all-stainless in that time period?

I honestly don't think the P229 was out in 9MM before the AWB, it was just 40 & 357SIG.

I no longer own these two P229s 9mm, but they were released/sold a few months before the AWB became law. Even had the date clock on the mag bases (13-rounders) indicating the month, April, iirc. And no LE restricted markings.

A very small window, indeed, especially for the pre-ban 9mm P229.

What would be the point of a nickel coated stainless slide. I know it's been done with revolvers. Outside of collectability is there a point?

So the entire gun would be the same hue; nickel and bare stainless don’t look exactly the same. When two-tone SIGs had nickel-plated controls, the stainless steel slides were plated as well for that reason.

Thanks for the correction, I knew it had to be small window.

Coming of firearms age in the mid-90s, I only saw 4S&W P229s for many years (and was one of the first guns a good friend of mine bought when we all turned 21).

There was no all stainless P229 at the time.
