P938 Recoil Spring
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to install the recoil spring after cleaning. I have done this many time before but old age and arthritis has caught up with me. Is there a capatured recoil spring assembly like the one used in my Glock 30? I googled it but didn’t find any.

This is what works for me: I bought a skinny dowel in Walmart that would fit inside the spring. Put it up into the spring and then slide the assembly in to place. I do it on a towel which holds the dowel from sliding.

Look in the arts supply section at Walmart they sell these dowels for pennies and just cut a piece about 5” long. It’s all you will need. The dowel keeps the spring from curling upward and makes installation possible. It’s still a bitch but it makes the installation more possible. That spring is a bear especially with 77 year old arthritic hands!

Thanks for the reply. Will give that a try.

I too have arthritic hands, and have been using the dowel method since I got my P938 in 2016. The dowel size is 1/8 inch. I concur about the process still being a bear.

I learned that method from someone right here on the forum. Maybe it was you Steve ^^^^^ I’ve been doing it for years as well and it definitely helps me. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries but it gets easier as you do it a few times.

I use one of the rods from gun cleaning kit.

I used Stroong suggestion and managed to get the recoil spring back on. In stead of a wood dowel I used a old RF tuning tool that was made out of nylon. It was still a pain but the P938 is now clean and functional. Thanks to all who replied.
