There's a slot in the right rail towards the muzzle end. I can't see any use for it. Any logical ideas?

I looked at 3-P320's I have and I see no slot at all anywhere in the rail or any place toward the muzzle end. Although I only have X-grips

Well, in case it matters, this is a coyote carry sized grip. Slot is in the right slide rail directly above the picatinny rail. I have two grip modules and they both have the slot.

Older grip modules before the “fence” was put around the slide catch tabs don’t have the slot, and it’s visible in the top of the module only with the slide removed or pulled back fully. It is present in newer full size, carry, and compact factory grip modules. Wilson Combat modules do not have it.

I have no idea either what purpose it could serve.

As far as I know, the X-series grips don't have them, and only some of the standard ones do.

I don't think there's been a definitive answer. It's been suggested that they may have been intended to allow installation of an RFID tag by military/LE units (if so desired), but that's just a hypothesis.

That kinda makes sense. Odd place to put it.

Some Sig Pros had somewhat similar slots in the muzzle end of the polymer frame that were reported to be for RFID tags.

Whether or not that's what it's for, at least now I have an idea. Before, I had no idea. Thank you.
