I was solely disappointed to find out Sig won't or can't sell you M17 commercial small parts. In the course of removing the rear cover and installing a DPPro the LCI went flying and its spring is somewhere. 100% me. Sometime in 2029 I will find the spring accidently, I heard it land but searching has not been successful. Since Sig doesn't include any description of parts in the manual I called sig to see if I can get one. The answer was no. I can send the slide and they will look at fixing it, but a .25 spring cannot be obtained. When I asked about other parts it really turns out you can't get any parts at the moment. So this is just a bit of an FYI.

That stinks. But I suspect that they'll relax that policy once demand for the complete guns levels off...whenever that occurs.

Get a bright light and take a look from different angles , you may see it .

Well that's a bummer...hopefully one day the parts will be as abundant as the M9 parts are nowadays and be all over Ebay.

Makes sense, but I'd amend that to say "when the military and whichever law enforcement agencies that have adopted the pistol have a stock of spare parts". In a way you can't blame them. Insitutional sales are gold if you have to maintain a production line. Besides, if the military launch of the model is successful, you're talking about years of military sales, which translates into years and years of police and commercial sales.

Most springs they use are of industrial standard. Either ISO or ANSI. Why dont you ask a fellow member for the specs? Diameter, thickness ot the wire and the amount of revolutions is all the information needed.

Call again and speak to another rep. Or ask for the Head of the Customer Support Dept.

Can it be found from a 3rd party spring specialists like Wolffe?

I'm pretty sure this spring is having a party with all the AR detents I've launched over the years... In any case if someone that has one of these M17's can measure the OD and the height I can probably source a replacement.

The parts absolutely should be available to the consumer consider that they've released this gun for general public consumption.

I mean it's one thing if the gun is never sold to the public, but this clearly isn't the case.

The more I think about this the more unacceptable it becomes and the more I hear about these things I get more suspicious about the circumstances in which the M17 is adopted. Not saying it's a bad gun but I don't think it's THAT good either.

That is the same problem I had with my SIG 556.
So for now, I will stay with the AR/M4 and 1911s.

You try an LE rep?

Did you call 603-610-3000 ext.1? That is the number given for product service on the M17.

I don't really want this to come back alive as a thread unless someone measures the spring for me. But CAR yes that is the number I called. Why? because its the number you call for all models in the commercial market. So I am confused your exact point.

Is the M17 spring different from the spring in the P320? Maybe just call back and say you need the part for a P320.

Are you talking about the M17 Commemorative or the M17 cilvian. I have the commemorative and will gladly give the dimensions you ask. But I don’t know how to successfully take LCI apart to measure the spring.

I'm 99% sure for this issue the model it really doesn't matter. To get to the LCI you have to remove the rear sight plate and then the LCI slides to the rear to remove. The slide plate is push in on extractor, pull rear cover down, remove extractor spring, remove the two screws holding the plate. Sadly SIG didn't bother covering this in the manual. But its pretty straight forward.
However if your not comfortable or don't want to disassemble the limited edition gun that far I appreciate the thought, but don't exceed your comfort zone. In all honesty I'd rather you didn't given the limited edition status of what you have. Unless you plan to mount an optic, in which case you have to do the above anyway and measuring will be trivial.

The spring is 5.4mm long and 2.4mm wide with very fine wire. Or .094” wide and .215” long. I didn’t give respectively. It was not hard to do, but beings I’m an aircraft mechanic helps. The wire is about .006” or .15 mm fine. The commemorative only has one 20T screw holding the plate.
