The “tax refund as a savings plan” plan works great...right until some POS uses your info to file a fraudulent tax return.

Then you spend 6 months to a year+ trying to get your thousands of dollars back from the feds.

This problem alone is exactly why I refuse to pay anything more than I have to, and try to owe just a bit.

It is easy as a few clicks on the computer to set up an automatic draft into a savings account, never even noticing the money coming from your check. And for a lot of families it’s a grand a month or more they are giving the government to hold until the government feels ready to give it back.

That’s insane.

All that said, no pistol for me. We’re having a closet system put in next week, that’s enough dough for me for a bit.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

I really love how the OP asked to see guns bought with a refund and you guys drifted this into a financial discussion thread.

I haven’t gotten my refund yet, but the 2020 Python sure looks irresistible.

Yeah, that didn't take long.

I was thinking about posting a picture of the P220, but seems like a 1099 would be more appropriate.

I do like the Sig air pistol that cslinger has. RobC2, that is a sweet watch.

Pictures or it didn’t happen.

Depriving the Forum of gun porn should be a crime.

I’ve got the New Gun Fever bad but haven’t done my taxes yet. It takes about 10 minutes to do mine so maybe I’ll do them tomorrow.

Whatever I get back won’t buy a gun but I might could get a case of 9mm or some boxes of .223.

Whenever you post anything about your personal finances on a forum, be prepared for all sorts of rude comments offered as advice. It seems to bring out the worst in some people.

I bought a Springfield Armory Ronin 1911. I'm a sucker for 2-tones and this one has been on my radar since it was released last month. LGS made me an offer I couldn't refuse. $699 OTD. I haven't shot it yet, but will do so next week.

Side-note: I've forgiven SA since they posted the mea culpa video and gave $ to pro-gun organizations. I had great luck with SA's production 1911s over the years.

The SA Ronin does seem to pack a lot of nice features into a reasonably-priced 1911.

And $699 OTD is a great price, especially for a local gun store. The lowest I've seen them online is $675 + shipping and transfer.

No new gun for me this tax season. Our small refund went towards the wife finishing her National Board teaching certification.

Okay, this is going to be a lot more fun than line 34 of Schedule D. Wink

Came with one magazine. I'll have to give it a once over to make sure all of the internals are where they should be and that they are properly lubricated. Then scare up some ammo.

I do like the Ronin.

OK, no refund. And, no pistols.

But I will admit to a Persian Mauser Carbine and a 1891 Peruvian Navy Carbine.

THIS...why give the Feds an "Interest free" loan?

This is me too! Haven't received a refund for a really long time and pay a small amount on April 15th.

Good eye. CAT.3713 is the catalogue number for this P220 that was made to be sold in Italy. The frame serial is stamped on the front of the grip.

I've been able to find a good variety of Sigs as of late, but it would have been a lot harder to scare up the funds for this one if I didn't file early this year.
