weapon mounted light holster manufaturers list
Its about time we have a list of holster makers that offer w.m.l. holsters.

I am seeing a bunch of the holsters on L.E.O.'s around here .

So If you have one and would like to share a link to the makers, it would be appreciated .

( and none of this "Steve over in cedar hills makes 'em he's next to the rusty bolt "
bull roar)

thanks for taking the time to share.

Safariland 7TS is probably the most popular WML holster around here for cops.

A lot of them make WML holsters. It just depends on if they have the mold for your particular WML.

It takes a lot of searching. My g/f just bought me a gun and I spent over an hour looking for someone that makes a holster for it with a TLR-7. Newishly released gun with a somewhat new light and it was a little hard finding one.

For duty holsters Safariland makes a good one. Blackhawk makes a good one but only for their proprietary light. For a concealment holster the Blackpoint Tactical (kydex) is hands down the best I have seen.

Funny Story-

About 10 years ago, the state police had a meeting between the Commissioner and key strategic commanders inside the state police.

One of the topics was issuing weapon mounted lights to troopers. Everyone was in agreement it was a great idea, except for one female colonel. When prompted, all she would do is keep repeating the "four basic safety rules" nonsense.

The SRT commander, and the Academy commander (a former SRT commander), attempted to educate her of how dumb her argument was. Both were involved in a dozen OIS, and probably 4-5000 tactical operations between them. The would explain different techniques, she would counter by just repeating "FOUR SAFETY RULES".

Finally, out of frustration of being called out on her doubling down on nonsense, she blurted out "Well, do you really want a road trooper pointing a gun at someone during a building check at two in the morning?". The academy commander shot back "Leslie, what the fuck else do you think a trooper does on a building check at two fucking o'clock in the morning".

The room went silent. Everyone looked at the commissioner who was dead pan. He finally smiled and said "Indeed, what the fuck else does a trooper do at two o'clock in the morning".

She blocked the funding for lights and holsters until she retired. The academy commander retired. The SRT commander is now a colonel.

Troopers have weapon mounted lights and there are no issues, safety or otherwise.

Bendable, there's no way to compile a complete list of every holster manufacturer who supports WMLs. There are simply too many holster makers offering too many different variations of holsters.

It's easier to say that just about every larger holster maker, and many of the smaller ones, will be able to make holsters that accommodate at least the major handgun models with the major WML models, namely the TLR-1 and X300. They're that common these days.

Especially kydex holsters. It's easier to mold a kydex holster around a gun with WML than it is to design a pattern for a WML-compatible leather holster. There are still leather holster makers who offer a few WML designs, but they're the minority compared to the huge array of WML-compatible kydex holsters.

If this isn't just idle curiosity, and you're actually looking for a specific style of holster for a specific gun with a specific light, let me know and I'll help you track down some companies that offer that.

Respectfully, you don't know what you're talking about.

Look, I get why someone with zero training or real-world experience with WMLs might be wary of them. The concerns are generally incorrect, but I can usually at least wrap my head around where it's coming from.

But take it from those of us that do have training or at least practice with them, and especially those LEOs and military servicemen who have actually used them out in the real world: They absolutely have a useful purpose, and they can be used safely. (Yeah, training and experience trump keyboard quarterbacking... Crazy, right?)

No, they should not be your only flashlight, and they're not your go-to light for every situation. But they're definitely better than any alternatives in certain scenarios.

Besides, not only is it entirely possible to illuminate something with your weaponlight without actually pointing the light and your weapon directly at them, believe it or not there are situations when it's actually justified and necessary to point a weapon at someone, while also needing to better illuminate them at the same time!

but wouldn't it be nice if the thirty people who actually own w.m.l. holsters would

show theirs, provide a www. link,
to the manufacturers ?

thanks

There's a lot more than 30 of us with WML holsters... Wink Heck, I bet there are well over 30 LEOs alone on the board, and 90+% of them will have a duty gun with a light. Then add in all the non-LE handgun carriers with WMLs.

But since you asked, here are the manufacturers of the WML-compatible holsters I have:

Well, you warned us.

I disagree with everything about this post, but even the most anti-WML people I have ever seen have not extended that argument to long guns. So when I'm clearing a building or doing a dog track in the dark with my rifle or shotgun, how in the hell am I supposed to be able to use it if I can't hold it and see at the same time?

K9 on lead is a huge reason to have a WML, among others. I have one on the nightstand gun and most of my carbines. I’m in the process of buying holsters to fit guns with lights, and I just special ordered a holster for a CZ Shadow 2 that I want to use in night matches.

I don’t carry a gun with a light for CCW as it’s too big a setup for me, personally. I do carry a flashlight.

No show and tell, as I don’t have a setup yet but will try to post when they arrive.

Shook Customs, LS Holsters and RedHill Tactical make a bunch of options in addition to Safariland and BladeTech. Safariland being most common I think and one of the few that may have them on hand to ship with no lead time.

Now that I've been duly spanked, tell me know how many citizens as well as most LEO's are actually properly trained in firearms.... let alone one with a light on it?

I don't have a crystal ball to cover everyone else, but I can say that all of the cadets at the police academy where I teach receive proper training on the use of WMLs.

And both myself and all the officers with whom I work, at my agency and others, use theirs properly.

It ain't rocket surgery.

Perhaps the answer for those people is to not own firearms. I mean, it's a right, but it sure isn't a requirement.
