Yeah, that M14 video guy... |
Good morning SF! What's your favorite sight pusher tool! Will be used for Sig, Glock, 1911, etc... Looking for quality, not economy. Tony. Owner, TonyBen, LLC, Type-07 FFL www.tonybenm14.com (Site under construction). e-mail: tonyben@tonybenm14.com

I have used an MGW for my Sigs for years and have a Wheeler clone for everything else. The real Wheeler may suit you better, but I simply have never had to use it very often.

I know I shouldn't, but.... with the slide clamped in these: I've borrowed sight pushers in the past, and it seems like every time I do I end up resorting to the hammer and punch anyway because the pusher won't budge the factory sights. They do make it a little easier to install the new sights, but it's still nothing I can't do with a punch, and a punch works on everything not just specific slides and sight profiles.

Down the Rabbit Hole |
I recently purchased a Wheeler Armorer's Handgun Sight Tool for my Son as a birthday gift. It works great. Diligentia, Vis, Celeritas "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." -- George Orwell

The MGW works for everything I have tried it on.

I was going to suggest the 4x4machineshop universal sight-pusher tool I bought a few years ago for $65, but I see they're now going for $365 , so never mind. "America is at that awkward stage. I have this as well as MGW tools for Sig, Glock, and HK. The Wheeler tool works well and I am very satisfied with it. _________________________ "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile - hoping it will eat him last” - Winston Churchil

I have a TruGlo one just for my GLOCKs and it works well.

MGW has always made great pushers. I have used the single purpose pushers for Sig and Beretta and still have my Sig. Kind of costly to have one for every pistol maker though. I wouldn't hesitate to try their universal machine and get inserts as needed. ...OR the Meprolight unit(if it is still made)! I have another universal unit, bought years ago for under $100, can't remember the name, it works but you have to use a vice with it to securely hold the receiver in. The KEY is to hold the receiver solidly to move the sight. Worth the money for a good one.

I use the one that used to be sold by sightpusher dot com before (I assume) they went out of business because all the criminal chi-nese counterfeiters on ebay and amazon copied the design and started selling it for 1/3 the price. Example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/17624...BhWxKlXd-b7cY4SJuAb0 the one I have is brass colored, very robust, made of steel, and came with a bunch of aluminum inserts for berettas, etc. with different slide angle/profiles. I've only had to use it a couple times, as a brass drift usually does what I want. However the ones with screws/bolts pushing the sight are superior for making small adjustments for fine-tuning POI. --------------------------- My hovercraft is full of eels.

There is only one choice. The MGW Sight Master or maybe it’s Sight Pro. It’s a beast. It takes a bit more time to setup because the slide is rock steady, supported inside the slide and out. You can put it in your bench vise and if you need or want to use a punch it works great for that as well. If I was a professional it would be my top choice. I’m no professional but I am very happy I bought it years ago. Money well spent. I think you live nearby if you want to check it out.

Second that. You want the MGW sight pro. Really excellent design and execution. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

https://www.wyomingsightdrifter.com/ Seriously. I have not found a sight it will not move yet. You essentially get a foolproof hammer and punch solution at a third the price of a sight pusher and it's not gun specific.

There was one in the SIGforum classifieds a few months ago. It might still be available. https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...620042505#5620042505 הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Lol, I have a saying I like to tell my wife and kids when I'm working on something....it's become almost a life motto: "All of life's problems can be resolved through proper application of force." The key word there is "proper", though . I do have several of those in the toolbox, and they get used regularly, but the one I use on guns looks more like this .

Yea...I use the Grace brass hammer too except mine has the delrin tip on one side (in case I have to whack the gun someplace else ) ____________ Pace

Yep, got a different hammer with a delrin head for those situations. Can't have too many hammers!

I’ve used MGW with good results, I’ve used a basic TruGlo Glock specific one with good results that said I still think you will want some brass and delrin punches as I’ve run into some sights that could used a delrin punch, or a brass punch or some heat ………. Or a sledgehammer and an industrial press but I digress, MGW makes good stuff. "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

If you’re going to be doing this as a service or regularly I highly recommend the MGW Pro, with about 6 shows you can change sights on about 30 different makes and models of handguns. And the way they are built they will last a lifetime. 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!
