That was a good video and a clear and concise summary of a lot of the factors at play here, including the human element. The tolerance stacking idea is definitely plausible...I still think if that's what's happening it ought to be replicatable with the affected guns, though. I also 100% agree with his take on the Focustripp video about the striker safety lock. I watched that video the other day and thought it was bullshit for all the same reasons Ian mentioned.

I have completely stripped my M18 down to single components, carefully inspected and reassembled it. Everything fits perfect. I even tried to pull up on the slide to release the sear and it has plenty of bite to prevent it. I bet the affected guns have a perfect storm of out of spec parts. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

Agree and I’ve thought tolerance stacking for a while. Also find it weird it’s not replicable more or less. Clearly there is evidence of some 320’s absolutely going off without any user interaction and several where it’s not likely something else is depressing the trigger. I do still feel like a trigger dingus would go a long way in mitigating a lot of these as I do think many are holster fitment or foreign object incidents Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris

I suspect the person, or persons, who conjured up the "Today, for SIG SAUER - it ends" campaign is no longer with SIG. What a disaster. Q

We have got to give Sig a lot of credit. Convincing a large number of agencies to carry a pistol that is fully cocked with a relatively light, short take-up trigger that lacks a trigger safety or grip safety where the slightest side pressure can fire the weapon is pretty impressive indeed. I remember a time when putting a loaded and cocked 1911 into your holster without the safety on was considered a bad idea. ^Wouldn't the grip safety be disabled as you're shoving the gun into the holster?

Not if you removed you hand from the grip safety, which wouldn’t be that hard to do and still safely holster. A technique that can be used the XD or EZ shields. I actually like the XDS MOD 2 for this reason, but I don’t like ambi magazine releases.

Well true, but the point being, anyone holstering a cocked 1911 without the thumb safety I wouldn't exactly trust to keep his palm off the grip safety either. ![]()

I scrolled back through and haven't seen this video posted yet. Apologies if I missed it and this is a repeat. It is from Sig's website. https://cdn.bfldr.com/EN1VTHA0...d_to_Fire_a_P320.mp4

I think the striker safety lock and spring are the weak point in the design. If it gets stuck in the upward position or the small tab breaks, the pistol is susceptible to uncommanded discharges from the striker walking off the sear and would likely be unsafe in a drop because of the free floating striker.
