I think my Midway bag is great.
Been dragging it to the range for many years, never a problem.

I have a large Midway bag but I don't think it would hold all that stuff. I can easily overload myself with it, so I got the Compact and just make an extra trip to the car for rest and chronograph.

Just for reference, here's the mess I'm currently dealing with:

That doesn't look too bad. Maybe you can still use the same bag, or similar, and carry it inside a frisbee golf frame cart.
They have off road wheels, might work, unless your terrain is just too rough.

Have you ever thought about a couple medium large size bags instead of one huge bag ? A lot easier to carry two average weight bags than one jumbo IMO.

Weight isn't an issue. I've never had a problem carrying it. Getting the lid closed and accessing everything I need easily is the biggest issue. I want everything in one bag as it keeps me from forgetting stuff. The 5.11 bag worked ok until it broke...I'm just hoping the new one is a little better. Amazon says it'll be here by the weekend, so we'll see.

So besides bags and such, a cart may be something else to consider: https://www.amazon.com/SPORTS-...-Wagon/dp/B00BUUUIGK

I bought something similar when I was coaching football and baseball, but found it to be incredibly useful for outdoor range trips too. Mine folds up real nice and makes transporting equipment from my car to the range real nice.

What about Eberlestock? They have a great range bag, its a bit bigger than some of the others (like LaRue's - which i also like). Side pockets, front zippered pcket, large center area, even has a bottom "shelf" that can hold a lot of ammo.

They do have sales and specials

I guess I missed the part on why a backpack wouldn't work. That's what I would've recommended, though the Eberlestock Bang-Bang cited in the post just above mine is really a great choice. When I wind up carrying A LOT of stuff that my regular Maxpedition Mongo Versipack shoulder bag can't swallow (which is rare), I fall back to a Maxpedition Falcon II backpack that I bought several years ago. Carries just about anything I can think of, even occasional steel plate targets. They aren't exactly cheap, but currently Maxpedition has a "buy one, get one free" sale going on. So if you know someone who's got a birthday coming up...

I agree on the Eberlestock suggestion. They make great stuff if it fits your needs.

I have a printed checklist for my IDPA and USPSA load out. I have arrived at a match with no belt, no holster, mismatched gun and ammo. But not any more.

That would work, but I go so often and shoot so much variety of stuff, and often on short notice, it's easier to just have everything in one bag.

The new bag came today. It feels very well made, and it's HUGE...probably at least 50% larger than my old bag. The binder will sit upright without pushing against the top, and there are plenty of pockets for convenient organization. I'm going to miss the outside water bottle pockets as they were great for holding range pickup brass, but this thing has enough free space inside that I'm sure I can find another way to do that.

We'll see if I can get 12 years out of this one!
