Have never owned a 92 which I will be correcting in the near term. All of these 92 threads have really triggered my interest, especially with the variations and models. I will probably go old school but love seeing these pics.

Had a 92LTT compact direct from Langdon but it just didn't balance well for me. Always felt muzzle heavy. Eventually traded it to a centurion model.
Still an awesome gun

Just got my 1995 Centurion back from a GS buddy of mine. Had it re-cerakoted, decocker only installed along with LTT's TJIB. Love the grips! Irish crosses with Latin phrases "Veritas (Truth) on one side & "Aequitas" (Justice) on the other.

This thread almost got me to do something dumb today. I went back to that LGS that had the 92x compact and it was still there. I fondled it for a while, and I really love that straight backstrap and checkered front strap, and the dovetail front sight is just icing on the cake.

It does have a plastic guide rod, the length-of-pull at the trigger break is still a bit short for my big hands, and the bottom of the trigger guard is still kinda sharp against the top of my middle finger, but these are minor design quibbles about an otherwise beautiful gun.

It just so happened that I was going to the range afterwards, and that Model 66 was in my trunk. We got talking trades, and I showed it to him, but he wanted $130 on top of the revolver, and I just couldn't bring myself to do that, especially knowing that he's going to turn around and sell it for probably close to $1000. So I still have the wheelgun, and am still compact Beretta-less...but the desire lives on.

That is a tough decision to make.

It’s not a tough decision. Don’t trade that 66. There will be more 92X’s. Don’t do it, be strong.

You need me on this wall.

Send it where? This is a pretty easy do it at home job. Just remember to install the plungers while inside a large ziploc bag. You might launch it once or twice but you won’t lose it, plus they give you 2 of all the “launchable” parts.

You need a small pin punch to drive out the Rollins and put one back in at end. Everything else is your hands. Don’t pay for this to be installed.

I hear ya, but I also have a GP100 that is better than that 66 in every way. Stronger, smoother, better trigger. Weight is a wash...its only about 2 oz difference. The 66 is prettier, and worth more, but practically speaking, the GP100 (at least my example), is a better gun. And when it comes right down to it, I don't need both. I don't carry either of them. I'm not going to give the Smith away, but I just have a hard time with owning a gun that sits in the safe over one that I'd actually use.

Steady.

Even if you do decide to get rid of your 66, don’t go cheap. I can get 92X’s all day long at 679. Centurions, Compacts, Full sized. That 66 is worth more. A decent amount more, especially if it’s pre lock which I believe it is. I wish you lived in Florida because we would trade guns and I would go buy another 92X and then come on here and tell everybody I fleeced my buddy even after I told him it was a bad deal. Lol

In reality I hear you on the GP100. I purchased a 3 inch Wiley Clapp edition, liked it so much I bought a second one for my son. I think I swapped some springs, shot it a shit ton, and it is my favorite revolver bar none. It’s great. The 66 is just nice though, old school S&W is hard to beat.

You're right of course. If I don't end up keeping it, I need to at least hold out for more, or trade for something equally rare. I still want a 92x compact at some point, though...Beretta really fixed a lot of the shortcomings of the 92 series with that gun.

Don’t get me started. In the span of a week I bought a 92X Centurion, loved it so much I bought it’s brother the 92X Compact. The 92X’s are nearly everything a 92 should be. With the trigger jobs, TJIAB, new sights, G conversions, better compact baseplates, etc. I prefer both of the X’s to my LTT Elites. That’s saying something.

Only real complaint is Beretta is being fucking lazy with the G conversions. The actual G slides are better. Nobody converts to a G and converts back. Nobody. Unless you are brain damaged. Just produce actual G slides like what came on my Elite II and 92G-SD. I know those are Brig slides but come on, how hard could it be?

Agreed. I've got no use for a manual safety, especially on a DA/SA gun. At least they offer a conversion kit now...it wasn't an option back when I bought my full-size gun.

Is the TJIB that much of an improvement over the stock trigger on the 92X full size?

I’ve been toying with the idea for a while.

Yes it is smoother, comes with lighter spring if you want, and the new trigger bar has an improved reset. That being said, I did a home brew polish, dropped in a lighter spring I had laying around and it was much closer to the TJIAB than I expected.

You can improve the stock quite a bit in my experience.

I just got to handle a 92X here - all I can say is WOW. If I had the $1800+…

Does anyone know if a trigger job from Wilson combat is comparable to the LTT trigger job in a bag?
