I have a P228 that was factory rebuilt in Jun of 2008. I bought the gun in July of 2008. It came in a red box. I found out the main differances between a new gun and a factory rebuilt gun. They are the box (rebuilt comes in red box) and the new guns come in blue box), the second thing is the new guns came with a 5 year warranty and the rebuilt guns came with a 1 year warranty.

Doubt you will ever need warranty work either 1 or 5 years and the savings were substantial compared to new. What was the original year of production?

1 year for CPO, yes, but 5 years for new? I thought new SIGs come with a lifetime warranty for the original owner.
