I watched this sit on GB for a few weeks and finally placed the only bid at $799. Should be at my FFL's on Wed. Any info. on this would be appreciated. I'm guessing late 70's manufactured. And when did they go to the newer slides vs. the Dolphin nose. Importer info.?

Mine has a Geneva Crest and was possibly a Geneva Police gun?

I’d say, whenever you see a Swiss canton coat of arms on a gun, you can bet with certainty that gun was a law enforcement gun.

Btw, that reverse B stuck to the P indicates it was Swiss proofed.

Picked-up the gun today from my FFL. Grips are made by Hogue. DA trigger weas pretty heavy, so I replaced it with an extra 20 lb. MS I had. SA pull is probably the best of any Sig I've felt. Inside looks good with minimal wear. I have some original style grips and 3 mags coming I found on GB & Ebay. Tomorrow, it gets shot.

That importer's marking is a crime. Yes, an import marking is required by law, but that clumsy garbage defaces the pistol.

The only one's I know of that do a really nice job are "The Attic;" I've bought a few from them (gunbroker) and they hide their import mark very well, usually tiny print in the magwell.

^^^^ That was a long time ago. Roco Firearm Technology used to put their import mark hidden under the grip panel. I suspect the ATF got on their case for violating regulations requiring import makings to be easily visible, because they eventually went with more visible locations.

Roco may have been burying it deeper than The Attic, but The Attic still stamps theirs the same way; hidden by the magazine floorplate, but visible with the magazine removed without having to disassemble anything from the firearm itself.

Got to shoot this today. It was accurate and reliable. Waiting on a few more mags, and I'll probably carry it from time to time. I was also able to darken-up the import mark with some aluminum bluing.

That lanyard loop is probably worth 1/3 the price of the pistol for it's rarity :-)! Don't lose it.

Oh boy I remember when I had a heck of a time trying to source that lanyard loop for my P220 9mm because of course the previous owner tossed it (along with the original grips).

I was able to source a set of original plastic grips no problem but that tiny little lanyard loop is damn near impossible to find on their own.

I made a replacement piece by hand using a piece of sheet metal, worked and looked damn near exact but eventually I was able to find a factory piece (through the help of a fellow forum member if memory serves...)

Moral of the story...don't lose it! and also I think this gun looks better with the original black plastic grips...but it's possible that I only think that because I was so obsessed with having the lanyard loop for it (which most aftermarket wood grips omitted).

Don't lose it, and if the plastic grips are missing it you may want to install it to avoid cracking the plastic at the grip screw that the lanyard loop goes around.

The pinched nose slide profile was the earlier production guns. Mine was similarly Swiss proofed but was also German proofed and had the date code on the bottom of the slide in front of the dust cover. It was a G102 serial about 7000 away from yours and was an HH code for 1977 production, so I would say yours is 77 or 78.

I foolishly sold it, I bought it out of a Gander Mountain in college for around 300 dollars. I picked up a slightly newer one a few years later to make up for it.

I just order an SRT for this gun. I've got 5 mags now and have shot it twice. I've actually carried it a few times. I also bought some original grips off ebay. Not sure what I prefer though. I think the wood classes it up a bit, but I do prefer the feel of the plastic.

The Montage Suisse P-series are great. I found my P225 in a Gander Mountain probably 20 years ago…

BTW for anyone reading, that “lanyard loop” is the magazine release. Definitely don’t want to lose it on this pistol…
