Anyone have experience with going from full size to compact grip? Is the balance much different and who do we like to perform?

So much easier to just find a G32. Velocity drop going to the 4" barrel is not that much. And if you decide you don't like it and want to sell it, you might have a modified G31 that no one else wants either.

It's been done quite a bit over the years, at least on the 17. I'd say the popularity of compensators and the "Roland Special" are a good corollary. Many weapon lights are also much longer than a 19/23/32 slide and are not perceived as making the gun unbalanced that I am aware of. I've never handled a chopped 17, but I have a comped 19 (that is actually G34 length) and see no balance issues.

All of that said, I agree that just buying a 32 is probably smarter.

The best shop for this work would be ZEV Technologies, which has unfortunately started to push slides with cosmetic "cool guy" looks that do nothing for the function of the gun, OZ pistols, ARs that look good but are just for show, and a ghastly P226.

Despite /that/ Gucci nonsense, they do outstanding work on duty pistols and hide it under "frame work".

You will want CCW Stipple, remove finger grooves, double undercut, 50% reduction (unless you want a 1911 feel, then go for Flat), texture both sides, and have them install Fulcrum Ultimate Kit for you.

These are functional, useful modifications. I had a GLOCK kitted out this way, and it was night and day difference.

If you're doing a chop job like the Kahr Coverts back in the day, this is the way to go.

I don't know if he's still working but I'd go to Dane Burns for this. I've had five Glock frames worked on by him and my Glock 34 would be the last gun I'd sell over my H&K P7M8 and Sig 228.
