golddotSW M&P guys, come on in , need trigger and safety advice
Hello, I just bought a used MP custom shop gun, has a comp, extended mag, RDS and a Sig Legion style case and challenge coin. Nice gun and considering keeping it, It needs a better trigger for carry and I was also wondering if it can have a manual safety (factory safety) installed by a gun smith ???
thanks, shawn

RogueJSKNo gunsmith needed to add/remove a manual safety on a M&P 2.0.
Your frame will have removable plugs in the cutouts for the safety levers, and the sear housing inside is already set up for adding the manual safety parts.
(You can see the frame plugs in the photo at your link... They're the little slanted black squares near the top of the frame, beneath the rear slide serrations.)
You can do it yourself with the manual safety parts, a YouTube video, and a pin punch.
You can likely get the manual safety parts from S&W. Once upon a time Customer Service would send them to you for free, but I don't know if that's still the case. Same with the frame plugs for those who want to remove their safety.

DaBigBRThe standard in aftermarket triggers for the M&P is the Apex flat faced. They can be customized pretty heavily through different spring combinations and Apex includes a chart telling you what the various combinations will produce as far as pull weight.

1KPerDayApex is definitely the place for M&P triggers. I've put in 4 in M&Ps and Shields. All excellent.
If you want a competition style trigger that wouldn't necessarily be ideal for carry/duty use, the Forward-Set Sear (FSS) is the choice IMO. But their action-enhancement trigger kit (duty/carry) trigger and sear is also excellent.

610Golddot, I've got a manual safety that I took off of a M&P. If you want it, I will more than happen to send it to you free of charge. I have no use for it and would more than happy for you to have it. Just let me know where to send it and it will on it's way. My email is in my profile.

patwCongrats on the new gun. S&W makes a great gun in the M&P line. I have a couple Shields and M&P.I actually like the flat trigger that is on them and wish I could put it in my other guns.

dry-flyI just picked up a new M&P Compact, at least I think that’s the model…there’s so many now. It’s got a 3.6” barrel and compact grip (holds 15rds). It’s the perfect size for carry, for me anyway. I can’t praise the Apex flat faced trigger kit enough. The newest M&P’s have better triggers but the Apex one is awesome.

straightshooter1As I've said before, and now I see others felt the same way, I avoided S&W since the 90s. The new little Smith Bodyguard 2.0 changed my mind.
I have it, plus a new Smith Shield 45acp, and recently I bought an older Smith Shield Plus in 9mm (My LGS had several M&Ps and wanted them gone). So, I spent very little on the Plus, then put new night sights on it and bought a couple mags (it only came with one) and found it was a pretty darned good shooting pistol-accurate with a nice trigger. In fact, I have actually carried it several days in lieu of one of my G43Xs.
Guess I shouldn't have cut off my nose to spite my face with Smith all those years ago. Maybe.

4MUL8RI just asked S&W to sell me the safety parts for a non safety pistol. They politely declined. Recommended two big online parts sellers.
