Unknown ammo, Unknown magazine. There is not a single gun on the planet that can be deemed reliable in that situation, in advance. None.
yep, I have many guns that I'd say have been 100% reliable, discounting malfunctions caused by ammo that no pistol in the world would have made work.

My CZ P-09. It was my USPSA Limited division gun for 5 years. Dropped mags in the dirt, ran it dry and dusty, weak hand shooting with a botched grip, you name it. Never once failed to go bang when the trigger was pressed no matter the circumstances. It's cleaned and babied now and serves as my go to home defense pistol.

Sig Sauer P239 in 40 caliber, over 5000 rounds downrange and the only failure was a dead primer.
My original Gen2 G19 that I foolishly sold for no good reason. Its replacement Gen3 only bobbled once, one round of Walmart-sourced WWB. Been perfect ever since. And my Gen4 G19s have been peace-of-mind reliable as well. Don't have a Gen5, at least not yet (if ever).
I've got more than a few others as well, including my current carry gun, which is NOT a G19 of any generation. But we're not supposed to chit-chat about that..apparently.

All of my handguns have always worked. Only a couple of mag failures that were due to age and use.
My one and only G17 mag that I had during the AWB took a crap and getting another wasn't easy or cheap. I could get 30 round aftermarket mags for $25 at the LGS though so ran those for a bit till I got some more G17 round mags.

Most of my Glocks have never malfunctioned, but if I had to pick one it would be my Gen3 17 with the RTF2 frame and fish gill slide.

I've got ~5-6 that have been 100% reliable: ALL REVOLVERS, S&W and Ruger. As for Pistols: two, a Remington-Rand 1911a1 & a Sig P365....a few others that come close, a Browning Hi Power 9mm & the rest Sigs (225A1, M11A1 & a 226 Mk 25). I do like Sig...for bottom feeders, they work very well indeed.
To pick one: a police turn-in S&W M66-2 with a buttery smooth DA trigger and the typical S&W superb SA. Cast alloy SWC's, high speed jacketed .357 125's, target wadcutters at 750 fps; it'll throw them all into nice neat little groups & at a full 25 yds too. With an H&K speed loader for back up, it's about the perfect do-anything handgun. YMMv of course...RodThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Rodfac, March 18, 2023 07:57 PM
