I have 4 of the Magpul magazines for the P320. I like them a lot. I used them in competition and the witness holes on the back is what I like the best. I can see instantly how many bullets are still in the mag.

For the life of me I just don't understand why Sig and for that matter CZ wont add more witness holes on the mags so we can tell how many rounds are left in the mag.

I load my P320 magazines to capacity, and shoot until empty. Witness holes are of limited value. If I need to reload, I just reload to capacity. The Magpul floorplate gap is a non-starter for me.

SIG (Mec-Gar) makes 15, 17, and 21-round magazines with an orange follower and rear witness holes just like the Magpul magazine, but it’s hard to distinguish between them and the standard magazines when looking at product listings. Sometimes they are described as “high visibility follower” or P320 Legion mags. Here’s an example of one such listing:

P320, COMPACT, X-COMPACT 15RD 9MM MAGAZINE, XFL, HI-VIZ ORANGE

The 17-round version has been around for a few years, the 15-round appeared a year or two ago, and the 21-round just showed up recently. Some of the latest production M17/M18 pistols seem to be coming with them, but it’s unclear whether regular P320s are shipping with them.

OK. I went to your website and I did find some 17rd mags with the witness holes on the back side. Desert Depot ARMS

I know Mec-Gar makes magazines for Sig, but I don't see anything like this on either Mec-Gar's website or the Sig Store website. So who makes them?

I know Mec-Gar makes magazines for Sig, but I don't see anything like this on either Mec-Gar's website or the Sig Store website. So who makes them?

They’re all SIG brand mags made by Mec-Gar in Italy. I’ve never seen a Checkmate / U.S. made version. I don’t know why SIG doesn’t advertise them. I’ve found them on a few websites, but it’s hit or miss. The most reliable place I’ve found them has actually been in military base exchanges, for some reason. Unfortunately, they’re full list price, but at least there’s no sales tax or shipping.

It’s especially confusing that they’re continuing to sell their regular P320 magazines with the fewer witness holes on the sides. I’m not sure why they haven’t just switched completely over to the new style of magazine, but I’m sure they’re more expensive to produce. One potential issue is that SIG may just not have updated some of their product photos, but I would only order them online if you see a photo of the specific style with the orange follower and witness holes on the back.

I’m not surprised you didn’t find them on Mec-Gar’s website, as I’ve never known them to advertise their SIG-branded products themselves.
