Browning Model 1955 7,65mm (.32 ACP)
I found this Browning M1955 pistol in the consignment case of my LGS. A John Moses Browning design, this model traces it's roots back to the FN M1910 which was marketed exclusively in Europe. In 1955, the Browning Arms Co. became the US importer with ~75,000 units reaching our shores prior to the implementation of the infamous 1968 GCA. While the majority of M1955's encountered are chambered in .380 ACP, this one is a less common .32 auto. The serial number dates to early 1969, indicating perhaps one of the final shipments to the states. History buffs will recognize the FN M1910 as the pistol used by Gavrilo Princip to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie in June of 1914, setting into motion a series of events leading to the outbreak of WWI.

That's a very fine example. Yet another pistol I've wanted, which has eluded my grasp.

Very nice piece to collect and in such great shape. John Moses Browning made so many contributions to the development of modern firearms.

Sean Connery used a suppressed 1910 to shoot Dent in Dr.No.

Indeed he did, creating one of the film's more famous continuity errors. As legend has it, the prop house did not have a suitable PPK that would accept a silencer so they substituted the FN M1910. Interestingly, in the same scene Professor Dent used a suppressed 1911 pistol to ventilate Bond's pillows rather than some variety of six shot S&W revolver as referenced in the dialogue.

I have always been a fan of 32 acp vs 380, thank you for sharing it.

It's quite unlikely I'll fire this one. I'm in the habit of meticulously cleaning these older examples and putting them away.
