Well, the Civilian Marksmanship Program partnered with Tisas (a Turkish company) for 1911's. To many, that's heresy: https://thecmp.org/tisas-partn...o-build-1911-pistol/

Your point is valid but the P7’s were massively quality and that was HK not “sarsilmaz”. lol. Honestly this thread was the first time I learned SAR was short for sarsilmaz. Which I kind of like saying. Sarsilmaz.

Turkish guns have been on the US market for a decade or possibly earlier. Most of the feedback I've read has been positive. Their shotguns though, seem to be more hit-and-miss.

Stoeger (beretta) stuff is generally very good. I don’t quality is the biggest issue. I think if you are procuring guns for a police department a large part of any contract would be parts, maintenance, support in general. Like has been noted above, it might be a great gun, it should be being a love child of Glock and Walther, but where are you buying holsters? Not to mention it seems like a more game oriented gun with all those slide cuts. Do police really want race cuts in their slide? Is that where the salsa accumulates? Regardless of gun quality it is an odd choice.

Has zero to do with putting them in cop holsters. GPD is not the first to do dumb shit. ________________ People hate you. Train like it.

We always had lots of fun at the fishing piers in Galveston. We never saw a cop there. “Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won.” – Barack Hussein Obama, January 23, 2009

It is an odd thing when this happens. West Virginia State Police is apparently going the Shadow Systems route as well. I don't get paying more money for effectively a Gen 3 Glock. I'm sure they're getting a deal, but I would doubt that it's meaningfully cheaper than just buying Glock.

[/QUOTE] You have a good point, but just to be pedantic ( Until they became unreliable and got a Trooper killed. Right after retirement, the Trooper that pushed to buy went to work for H&K. The decision to buy the SW99 was a disaster. When the upgraded to the P229, their ammo specs were crap causing issues. Been out for years but purchasing was never easier unless it was on the NJ State Contract list.

Indeed. I've never heard of them, however, wife and I just came back from Turkey/Turkyie (whatever) and the visit to the Galipolli area and later seeing some of their industrial areas and buildings convinced me there is more there than meets the eye. As an aside, they also have the standard version for $229. (My real name's Bill. I was feeling paranoid when I signed up:-)

I had the compact for a while and never had a problem , fired maybe 500 rds , most leather sw M/P holsters fit them . The turks been at war for 100 yrs I`am sure they can make a good gun .

Seems if they were any good at the war thing or weapon building, the opposite would be true. ________________ People hate you. Train like it.
