preference was 3" barrel in 357 mag. pinned barrels and the older the better.
I hope to hear back Monday as to how much "picking" they will do.
I also asked about a REM 870 if Wingmaster.

Have never seen or heard of a 3" 681, but there may be one out there. On the 3" 65, if you get one I hope it is not the recent version from about 10 years ago that the barrels would not stay on. NCDOC traded in hundreds that had that problem, but S&W kept all those so no longer in circulation. But the same dash number is. Good luck in your quest!

A model 65-2 3" with box and docs just sold on SW forum classifieds for $1179.. FYI

A S&W mod.58 in .41 magnum. 4 inch nickel, fixed sights, pinned & recessed.

A tribute to Buford Pusser, type handgun. Been looking for one to be my blued 58's step brother.

For the most part if you buy a S&W in .357 without the built in key lock (Hillary Hole) you would be hard pressed to lose money on it if you don't get robbed when you buy it. The shorter the barrel the more they seam to be worth also.

While I'm no S&W expert, there are some "must haves" that will hopefully live in my household. They are pinned barreled Models 49, 60, 63 and 66.

For my two cents, M67 and M60, then the 642. I've got first and the last, still looking for M60.

It would take piles of $$$ for me to part with my mint, all original 1917... Boy, it's just amazing what dedicated craftsman who gave a damn could do with their hands, brains, and hearts over 100 years ago with a service revolver. I'd say this is definitely a must have in the old school N frame department.

I'm not a collector, but to me, a Model 10 is about as basic as one can get, and everyone ought to have one. I carried one for a long time, later a Model 64, heavy barrel, 4", typical for the times. I hate cleaning them, but miss the times when they were most common.

A model 36 and or 60 is very classic. I don't know about collectable, but it's quintessential S&W.

Big bore, the model 29, of course.

I think that one of the best versions of the .357 Magnum, not counting certain of the Colts, was the S&W Model 19.

When it comes to revolvers like that, I'm partial to 4". For personal carry, 3". The Model 19 is elegant.

If they're in good shape,(pre-locks) 3 to 4 hundred each is a good deal. My shop routinely sells these in the 5 to 6 hundred range, sometimes more.

Shot a Model 19-6 and thought it had a terrific trigger.

I've been looking for a model 539, factory nickel. Can't afford the ones that I have seen as I have no natural children. Most command a price of 'first born male child' and a player to be named later.

In my eyes,the old snubbies' are collectors' pieces now. Here's my Mdl 66-2-1/2. Damn thing is accurate as heck and a piece of modern art that could be in a museum for outstanding industrial designs.
