Anyone using an RCR?
Gonna give this red dot thing another go.

Found some posts but nothing too recent.

I’m essentially looking for anything that I should get instead of an RMR. Not for any reason at all other than just doing my homework.

I don't have one, but Sage Dynamics did a 10,000 round review:

There are 3 guys in my shooting group that have bought them and I don’t recall them ever having a problem or complaint. They were the hot ticket 2 or 3 years ago. The same guys have bought additional red dots, but not RCR’s. Most of the dudes I shoot with can’t justify the cost.

I have one on my duty gun... any specific questions? No issues to report w/ mine.

I do not have the 10k rounds on mine that DanH linked from Sage Dynamics YT channel.

Sig 226,

The lowest price I could find on a green RMR was about 619. And the RCR was only 650$.

So I was thinking, “this is an upgrade from the RMR for sure for only 30$ more.”

I guess more than anything I was just looking for anything users had noticed about it.

I do carry the gun I plan on putting it on regularly, mostly IWB. It’s a 2011 size pistol so it’s larger to start with but I don’t think the red dot will affect much.

The RMR you mentioned, was it the original or the new HD?

If it's in reference to the new RMR HD model vs the RCR, I also debated between the two. Ultimately, I wanted something enclosed for duty/open carry function. The RCR doesn't have the auto brightness nor the ability to change reticles, but I'm a simple guy and didn't need those features plus again the RCR is enclosed.

It was the standard type two adjustable in green.

I had the same thought as you between the HD and RCR. Enclosed vs features I probably won’t use.

I think you can find a better street price on the RMR type 2, unless you need the green dot? Euro optic has it in stock for $516.

Take another look at the RMR HD.. between this and the original I would seriously suggest looking at the HD. You don't have to use the features of the HD if you don't want them, I believe. However, the ability of not having to remove the optic to replace the battery then confirm/re-zero is another feature I really liked.

I'm a long time RMR user. I've more than two dozen of them and have used them on lots of stuff over many many years including carry and thousands of competition rounds on lots of different guns. Other than the original silliness of the Type 1 battery issue which I experienced they have been remarkably reliable.
And as other options appeared that had RMR footprints (because that is what my guns had) I've dabbled in those as well like the SRO and the HD and the RCR.
Of those if you are already committed to the RMR footprint I think the best choice is the HD> The remove the sight for battery changes of the RMR has in my mind been passed by. Its a pain in the ass even if you don't have to do it very often. And I'm not a big lint guy but you do have to manage it.
BUT if you haven't committed to a footprint I think the Aimpoint ACRO or even better the newest one the COA are way better choices on a carry gun.

Even if I never changed reticles or cared all that much about not having to remove the optic to change the battery, the window size and the forward-facing auto brightness on the HD are enough that I'd go with that over the Type 2 all day long. But as I said recently in another thread, after going with an enclosed optic for carry, I'll never willing go back to an open emitter optic. If I had to, it would be an HD.
