Hi guys! currently have a P365 with an upgraded OEM "flat" trigger and the longer 12-round grip module. I am planning to either add the manual safety to it, or trade it in on the P938 BRG. This would be for my hot weather thin/small (do they call that deep concealment? Wink ) carry gun.

I searched the forum but didn't find much detail, or much recent on the subject. Anybody here had both yet? Or, have a sense of the trade offs. I get that the 938 is all metal, and has less rounds. I imagine they both have a fair amount of MIM. Just interested in any thoughts my SF pals have on the subject.

Thanks!!!

I owned that exact model, P938 BRG. It's a little bit smaller than the P365, since it's single-stack. The Black Rubber Grip takes away a lot of thinness in the grip, since it has a good palm swell. It is about 1.8oz lighter. It doesn't have a good trigger for an SAO gun. I shoot the P365 a lot better than the P938.

The P938 didn't hold any advantages for me over the P365. After getting a P365 in 2018, I got rid of the P938 and don't miss it.

I shoot my Sig P365 as well as the P938 that I had. The P938 had a good trigger and was very reliable unlike others. My P365 has the manual safety is great to shoot and in MHO it is the way to go.

I own one and my buddy owns the other. The 938 shoots like a dream. The 238 is even better. For what you are proposing though I feel the 365 is a better choice. I also think the 365 shoots well but in pure shooting, nothing else the 1911ish wins. I added the manual safety to all my 365’s and I will appendix carry it without worry which isn’t something I would do with every striker. 365.

I prefer the 938 over the standard 365. Its slimmer for pocket carry unless you put those bulky rubber palm swell grips on it.
If I want more capacity, I'll carry the 365xl or a g19 IWB.

Thanks for the insights guys! Is it safe to assume that the 938 has MIM parts?

Picked up a 938 Legion today. Pre-owned, but truly like new, for a little under $700 out the door. Very impressed with it.

I have both the 365 and a 938 Legion. Both are good guns. However, the 938 is good for pocket carry while the 365 is a little too big for carry in jean pockets. I also like 1911 style thumb safeties like on the 938 and my 365 doesn't have a safety. Bottom line, 938 for pocket carry, but the 365 shoots well and holds more rounds so I would pick it if I didn't pocket carry. I especially like carrying the 938 in a Recluse "clamshell" type holster in my front pocket.

Yes. The slide latch lever for sure. Probably the mag release button and hammer. I’ve had no problems with any of those parts. Nor the plastic trigger. SIG MIM parts are pretty good.

Early P938s had problems with their mainspring housing (MSH). It could result in two rounds fired with one trigger pull. SIG produced a redesigned MSH to address that issue. It worked for the P238 too, although the P238 seldom suffered the problem.

Is there a way to ID whether mine has been updated to the new housing? I bought it used.

Although this might be sacrilege in the SF space, have you considered a S&W Bodyguard 2.0 for your hot weather thin/small carry gun?

Going back and forth from the P365 to the BG 2.0 is very smooth as they have the same manual of arms & very similar, if not the same, grip angle. The BG 2.0 is very easy & comfortable to shoot, and is very light.

My P365 is in my pocket 99% of the time I leave my house, and the BG 2.0 lives in my pocket when on my property/in my neighborhood. It also is perfect in suit pant and jean pockets.

This past week I sold the P365 and bought the P938 Legion. So, this is the boat I'm in for a while. I really like it so far.

If you google “old p938 msh” you’ll see a URL that answers that question. But it’s a link to an old post on the “other” SIG forum, so I’m not going to link it.

Seems you answered your own question twice. Smile First by buying the P938 and then by discarding the P365. Smile

I came to the totally opposite opinion as much as I prefer hammer fired pistols to striker fired. But not even the "micro M1911" format of the P938 convinced me to give up 13 rounds without a second magazine and the SAS slide offers nothing, not even a front sight, to snag pulling the pistol from a pocket or bag.

Nice to have choices. Smile

You guys clearly have bigger pockets than me. I couldn’t pocket carry a 365 to save my life. I will second that the BG2.0 is an outstanding small gun choice. (It will fit in my pocket).

I don't have a P938, but I do have and love a P238, it is my backup, and pocket gun in the summer. I have tried the P365 a few times, shot many rounds through them, and never did take to them, I still carry a G43. But that 238 is special, it is an excellent micro, great little shooter.

^^^^^^
I have a P238 too, and love it. Its recoil is much softer than my Walther PPK/S .380.

I bought the new MSH for my P238 but haven’t installed it as I subscribe to the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” theory. A P938 does benefit from the new MSH though.

I don't (and wont) carry a gun in my pocket. I prefer a proper IWB holster.

Thanks! As the thread I found was from 2015, and mine was made in 11/2023, I'm going to assume mine is a corrected MSH.
