Not meaning the high-cost/mint/collector versions, rather the 'standard shooter' level. Are they adequate for such as speed steel & falling plates, or are there better choices? In such games, are P320 or P229 in 9mm at any particular advantage or disadvantage compared to P210 in same course of fire? Not talking the slow fire/bulls eye type events. We got speed/accuracy in a 9mm in any case? **************~~~~~~~~~~ "I've been on this rock too long to bother with these liars any more." ~SIGforum advisor~ "When the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change, then change will come."~~sigmonkey

The old, Swiss manufactured ones don't even come "pristine". The factory test fired them. And not only 3 shots, but until they were happy with the results. I'm still looking for a P210-1 target, but I don't expect cheap. I'd like to try a 952, and I don't think I'd bother with any of the offerings from Colt, Beretta or whatever. I think the OP here is going to have a long and unhappy travel. Unless he lowers his standards. Unhappy ammo seeker

I used a West German P-210 Target in IDPA a bit. Though to get the safety off as quickly as I can with a 1911. Mag capacity is less than other 9mm options. Other than that, you are giving up nothing. NRA Life Member - "Fear God and Dreadnaught"

It really depends on the 'game'. I ran mine in steel plates (our local version 24 plates loaded 6x4 mags) and its not a particular issue. I can't conceive of running it in any thing like IDPA or USPSA unless its for fun. Steel challenge probably not a big deal, but I haven't actually done so. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

I would think the thread is long gone...but. There is a company that makes an aftermarket safety to replace the factory one. Supposed to be much better. I didn't bother to buy one because I'm not in that much of a hurry. You might want to look into it. Don't let finish get in your way. The early guns were often good for over 100,000 rounds. Almost all of them. High round count just isn't an issue. The ones with a problem can usually be fixed and then go well past 100,00. These aren't delicate guns, they're workhorses. If you read a bit, you'll find the ones in Europe at gun ranges, almost never wear out. That was never. Some do need an occasional cleaning and a few springs replaced. I can't afford the ammo to wear mine out. Sure wish someone here would post about the life expectancy of the 22 caliber kits. Or the -7 guns (just a permanent kit). I've never read or seen anything on them. Anyone know about them. I only rarely put the kit on the -2 gun it came with. I have no idea of the round count on the gun before I got it, but looking at the rails of the .30 cal kit and the 22, it spent its life with the 9mm up top. Even with 10,000 rounds on hand, give or take, I'll never wear mine out. Unhappy ammo seeker
