The receipt of my stainless P226 states I purchased the gun in '07. I DO NOT want to alter my slide.

What are my options to add a red dot on it?

Without milling the slide, I would guess your options would be for a rear sight dovetail mount.

Does it have a Picatinny rail? If so, there are b-square-type mounts that are another option, but as Yooper mentioned, rear dovetail mounted plate is the most feasible option.

SIG does sell optic cut slides for the P226. You can also get a slide that already has a SIG brand red dot already installed. That's what I did. The P226 and red dot is a great combination.

Stainless?

I kind of figured I could just replace the slide, but wasn't sure about a stainless slide because I don't see any stainless pistols offered.

The slides are all Nitron coated stainless. If you prefer natural stainless, you can have them bead blast it. Or, call to order one that hasn’t been Nitron coated.

Nah I just purchased a Springfield XDM and P365 Macro so I'm good for now. My first two polymer pistols.

Rifles have my attention right now.

I agree, don’t cut that slide! As for options, maybe Matrix Precision might be an option? Looking at their P226 slides page, there is a photo at the top of an optic cut stainless slide, but none in the drop down. Give them a call and see if they can work one up for you.

Thank you, that might be just what I'm looking for.

Matrix Precision, no phone number, only email

Does not mill slides. They sell their Pro Cut Slides, but finished with black Nitron. They will only remove the finish on bare slides. They referred me to Sig.
