Wanted to do something with the front sights of my sb compact and sent the slide in to Wilson. Did a great job including a u notch rear sight. Fairly quick turn around.

Was the original front sight a fixed blade? Did WC machine a dovetail in the front of the slide?

No they basically drilled thru the front fixed sight and put a fiber rod in and added the corresponding rear sight on it. So much better than factory set up

I had Wilson Combat do the same thing to the front sight on my M9A1 as well.
Something like $50 and had the slide back within 2 weeks of sending it off.
I'm also a fan of their U-notch rear - I prefer it over factory or square notch rear.
Very happy with their work.

Yup, I had a gunsmith on another forum do the same thing to one of my original F slides. Huge difference and well worth the 30 bucks I was charged.

I need to get this done on my FS. The sight picture in that pic is so much better than stock.

Looks great! I have been kicking around the idea of getting one of the surplus Model 84 / 85s, but I bet the front sights are too narrow on those for Wilson to make this work.

This made me curious, so I got out my calipers and measured the front sights on my 81 and 92FS. They're only 7 thousandth different in width, but the 81 sight is shorter (81BB: .118" wide, .90" tall. 92FS: .125" wide, .150" tall). I'll bet Wilson could do it...it's worth the ask.

Personally, I don't mind the front sight, but I don't like the rear on my 81. It's set up to cut the dot in half in order to have the top of the front sight level with the top of the rear. I know that the dots don't really another as you're supposed to be aligning the post, but it's an annoying and distracting sight picture that interferes with your focus on the front sight, imo. I'd prefer a U-notch rear like snake207 showed in his pics, so that the whole dot is visible when the sights are aligned.
