Finally free of my work duties!

To begin with, we do have a solid model for a 3rd Gen hammer that should make for a very clean SA break and glass smooth DA. Coupled with a coupled with a balanced mainspring and trigger spring it should make for a very nice drop in kit. The problem is that the demand for our current products takes precedence over legacy projects. We are literally burning the candles at both ends to meet demand. While I cannot complain about such a problem, it does delay some of my pet projects.
Fortunately since CHP has moved on to the M&P, at least 3rd Gen parts are still plentiful. As Apex evolves its barrel making capabilities, I will try to make some legacy gunsmith fitable barrels for a couple of them. They will probably be very limited runs and please don't expect them any time soon. It's at least a year off.

The 356 TSW cartridge project is still ongoing. As of now Underwood and Cor-Bon are selling the loaded ammunition close to the original ammunition specs from the 90s. We are going a different route as I feel that most modern service pistols- in particular polymer framed striker fired pistols aren't designed to handle a regular diet of this round. It is the equivalent of 357 Sig and most newer pistols weren't designed around the slide velocity that this round can generate.
For Open division pistols that are crafted around major power factor, the 356 brass makes a LOT more sense than 9mm major from a safety margin point of view.
We will be selling our 356 brass this upcoming year, but I want to warn everyone, it was horribly expensive to have Hornady make the brass. Until I can persuade other brass manufacturers to start making the brass readily available the price for new brass will undoubtedly turn some people off.

18DAI,

I will try to update you here when we have a cool hammer kit for the 3rd Gen. I will start with the 5906 since I have one... Smile

Thank you sir! Smile

Since 59XX series hammers currently interchange with 45XX series hammers, I assume I will be able to install the Apex 5906 kit in my 4506-1? Wink Regards 18DAI

This post has little to do with the original topic, but since Mr Lee is here I'll say: I put the Apex trigger in my Shield a weekend ago, and I like it a LOT better than the original one.

Mr. Lee, a question about a SW99 45. I bought the gun used about five years ago. I shot the SW99 45 at an IPSC match, cleaned it, and put it away. About a year ago I took it out for inspection. The grip inserts, not the frame, were covered in salt-like crystals. All three inserts disintegrated into shards. IIRC, the gun was cleaned with Hoppes. Have you heard of this problem?

I doubt that it is profitable for Apex to make replacement inserts. Mostly curious if the problem has happened to others. Guess I'll take up carving as a hobby.

I did buy the Apex FRE for my MP9, it made a huge improvement.

Yikes! Sorry to hear about your SW 99 woes. It sounds like the polymer they used was not stable. There may be replacements available from Numrich arms.

I suspect it will fit in several different models, like the 3906 and a few others...

any chance of a .357 Sig chambered barrel for 4006 pistols that flooded the market last year. I assume it's similar performance to the 356 TSW mentioned above, but allows a non reloader like me to shoot for a much reduced cost.

Also looking forward to the new trigger kit. Apex kits for my shield and CORE were noticeable improvements.

A Perpetual Disappointment...
