I need some second opinions I am turning 40 next year and am in the market for a birthday gift to myself As both of the pistols i am considering are not available where I live , i have to import them myself so I am starting preparations early So the 2 pistols that caught my eye are : The p320 x compact 9mm The p320 axg scorpion Already own other sig sauers like the p226also , p229 legion , p320 compact ( with grayguns trigger and wilson combat grip module ) , sig 1911 As I am so fond of my p320 I convinced myself that I need an extra one... Generaly speaking I am not that much into other colors than black or silver for handguns ( apart from my legion and a canik tfp9 elite combat in fde ) Chances are that the axg scorpion would see less use due to this, but i do not mind another safe queen , given the fact that both models are not available where I live , so for me this also justifies not beating them down too hard as they are somewhat rare in my neck of the woods. I also have no clue of the quality of the finish of the scorpion and how much it can take. Sig promotes the legion and its finish as being durable and tough, but we all know how easy it is to damage it unlike the black or stainless versions. So I am curious to your take on this subject

I just received my p320 axg scorpion and I am very impressed. I too don’t see much value in guns other than black or sliver so this is my first FDE pistol. I can not speak to the durability of the finish, but the color of the scorpion on the aluminum frame is very well done in my opinion. My trigger breaks consistently just over 3.5lbs and the aluminum frame in the carry size has a near perfect balance. It being a limited run pistol and the first run from the ‘Custom Works’ group add to the birthday choice. I honestly didn’t think I would like this gun as much as I do. My vote for 40th would be the Axg scorpion. _________________________ "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile - hoping it will eat him last” - Winston Churchil

P320 AXG - all metal, larger P320 X-Compact - poly frame, smaller I'm leaning toward the X-Compact. But, the perfect one for me would be the yet to be made P320 AXG-Compact. Q

It depends on your intended use. I have the 320C and find it a good carry gun but have gone over to the P365, that is smaller and lighter. If you are going to put in on the nightstand and not carry it much, as in home defense or range gun, I would go with the axg scorpion.

Thank you for the input! I agree : a p320 axg compact would be perfect for me. I also posted in another topic that I do not get the p320 x-five and x-five legion. Legion should be p320 with axg and flat trigger with trigger job available in full size / carry / compact The fact that the axg scorpion is a limited model also add s extra points to the pro’s of this model. But like i said : none of these 2 are available where i live, so both are rather exclusive here

The x-compact is really a subcompact with a compact frame. I had a subcompact, but never cared for the subcompact frame; it felt like an awkward, runt-of-the-litter plastic P224, or a P365 with a fat slide. Putting the compact grip under it feels more balanced, has higher capacity, and makes for more of a P365 with an adult grip. Presently my P320 subcompact has a wilson compact grip, and works out really well. The only thing the x-compact gets you is a plate for an optic, if that's the route you want to go. I didn't, so I had no use for the optic mount. The P320 Legion is about as much value as you could hope for in a P320. No way you could throw the components together for the cost of a new one. Probably the best value, in my opinion, of any P320 variant.

P320 AXG all-metal frame is a Carry size vs P320 X-compact. I have the X-compact and it's nice, But if it was my birthday, I would treat myself to a nice P320 AXG. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

I put a Subcompact upper in a Wilson Combat X-Compact frame. To me, that created just about the perfect compact carry pistol. I had it in a SIG X-Compact frame, but I prefer the ergos of the Wilson. Like a Glock 19, only better. P320 Subcompacts are discontinued, but you could always get the X-Compact and swap it into the Wilson frame. You'd have the straight trigger and the cutout for an optic, if you want those options. (I didn't.)

I conceal carry as large as Berettas 92s, and as small as p365s. Size and weight of carry is of personal preference. I have a Scorpion AXG and an X Compact. I love them both, but I am much more accurate with the AXG at 15 and 25 yards than with the XCompact. TheAXG is much more comfortable to shoot and shoots as does my p228 (in single action only). Though I will never give up my 228, I much prefer the AXG. It carries very well owb or iwb. That one I recommend as between the XCompact and the Scorpion.

Get the X-Compact and then go to https://www.icarusprecision.com/ and get their X-Compact aluminum frame that's supposed to come out in a few days/weeks. It'll feel perfect in your hands. I just got the P365XL with the aluminum grips and they're perfect.
